I tried to psyche myself up to watch I'm Not There on Friday, but I just couldn't do it. I think I'm just gonna sell it on ebay.

Easy Rider - maybe its because I wasn't around to see just how counterculture it was during its times, but I found it to be pretty boring

I can't bring myself to rent this, I love Dylan and all, the movie just doesn't interest me at all.

Smart move. What a boring movie. Don't understand its critical acclaim.

Saw that Teeth movie about the chick with the choppers down there. Pretty entertaining.

I'm Not There was great. DJ you should really watch it. If yr a Dylan fan its fun to figure out all the nuances of Dylan's life and see how they align themselves in the film.

Saw a free screening last night - really enjoyed it, will have to see it again before I try to figure out where it would rank with the other Disney and Pixar movies. The short "Presto" that was played before it may be one of my favorite Pixar shorts though :)

We watched 'Eastern Promises' last night.

I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as I thought I would nor how much the reviews said I should.

I am more excited for Wall-E than any other animated movie ever.

I've had it, ready to unwrap and then I just throw it down and think "in 20 min, I'm gonna be pissed that I started watching it". I am a Dylan fan, but I find the "Dylan Mythology" really annoying. Hell, I couldn't even watch No Direction Home, I just shut it off as he was leaving Minnesota. So if I can't watch the story of the real Dylan, watching Richard Gere limp his way through the story isn't an attractive way to spend my precious, sacred time.

How could you think this after they made a movie about talking cars, and even that wasn't really bad?

...it was awesome. I'm not a big fan of dreamworks... and if this had been done by Pixar I suspect it would have been the best movie ever. But even so it was pretty fantabulous.

Shrek the Third
...Not bad On par with the other Shrek stuff. Not a purchase, but an enjoyable watch.

Hostel
...If you want the gore without the storylline, look no further. A fun idea ruined by poor scriptwriting.

Crazy Eights
...Again, scripts ruining movies! A pity this time around because it was beautifully shot, but no amount of beautiful shooting can overcome that script.

Bleach: Memories of Nobody
...Anime movies based off of long-running anime series rarely work. But somehow the first Bleach movie manages to work well, both with the filler plot and the limiting time constraint.

Borderland
...Meh horror. Interesting ideas that fail to really come into fruition. Did appreciate the Resident Evil 4-esque settings.

Pollock
...Fantastic look at Jackson Pollock. Highly recommended.

Bubble Boy
...Don't see. You've been warned.

....OK I've seen waaaay too many movies in the past week...

In Bruges... Reminded me of The Matador, though with a role-reversal -- the younger marksman was unhinged, while the older one was hardbitten but in control of his game. Great scenery. & dwarves/midgets!
really liked this movie. Dark and funny.

Yeah.

I thought In Bruges was fantastic. Pitch black, had me in fucking stitches, great writing. I had just about given up on Farrell, but he was ace.

Incredible doc about Brazilian politicians who steal so much the government cannot even put a figure on it, and the phenomena in Sao Paulo with kidnappings. Its a nice duality. White collar stealing v. lower class. In some ways you could view it as the extremely poor fighting back against the system.

The soundtrack was a treat as well. If you like the broad range of Brazilian music, you will probably really like it.

Image

This finally came out on DVD. Shot in 70mm (think Lawrence of Arabia), its an epic film. Its long (close to 4hrs), but its so immaculate and so well acted that you get pretty far into the film before you know how much time you've invested. Simply put, this is one of the best adaptations of Shakespeare put to film.

That seems to be a common theme for those 8 Films to Die For series. I've seen two so far (probably watching a third tonight) and each one has been quite mediocre.
