hahaha. that is great.

i think the only time it is acceptable to hit a car for legally turning is when it's within less than an arm's reach. i walk by a parking garage every morning and often see close calls. but i have only twice seen someone hit by a car there. one guy just gave the driver a dirty look and kept walking. the other guy slammed whatever was in his right hand (looked like a flashlight) into the back window of the SUV.

About one in ten street crossings in front of the house in Boston involve someone blowing through a pedestrian crossing dealy. I am perfecting my "wtf man" body language, but I have a long way to go. Some of these motherfuckers look like extras from Les Mis when that shit happens. I can feel their pain from a block away.

A tow truck driver almost ran over my dog, roommate and me last night. My roommate started yelling at him that he needs to slow down and honk his horn before coming out of the tow lot and and he said, "beep beep". I wanted to beat him.

The only time I've ever come close to getting hit by a car, it was a cop.

And, no, her lights weren't on or anything.

I was driving on some 3-narrow-lane NYC highway on Sunday, coming back from the weekend. I was in the middle lane when the guy to my right (and overlapping me by about 3/4 car length) starts merging into my lane without a turn signal, and completely oblivious to my presence. there was also someone to my left, so i just laid on my horn, got as far left as i could, and tried to speed up enough so that when the jackass finished changing lanes, i wouldn't be there anymore. somehow, and i have no idea how, i didn't hit either car. i don't know if the guy ever figured out what was going on, but he never for a moment stopped moving into my lane.

this happened on the way back from the liquor store, so I wasn't yet boozed up.

last night = disaster.

If you're looking closely enough, these guys give away clues that they're about to do this, 95% of the time.

1. First, they drift towards your side of the lane and hug the line for a few seconds.
2. Second, they either throw a token check at their side mirror or a slight turn of the noggin in your direction - like 10 degrees.
3. And lots of the time, they're either arguing with someone else in the car, or are on the phone.

Anytime I see any of the above, I get either back past their rear bumper or up ahead of them slightly so a sideswipe would miss me. Cellphones too. I don't ride near talkers if I can help it. And that scenario above is when it helps to be able to accelerate reeeally quickly without much warning. Can be just as valuable as good brakes.

This morning, a cop on a segway almost got hit on a crosswalk by a car turning right in front of my work building. The cop then proceeded to pull the person over and give him or her a stern lecturing but no ticket.

there's an off-ramp on 93 near the south end that merges from the left onto the highway and everyone was merging along perfectly until this dude in an suv decides he doesn't want to play along like everyone else and would not let me in. i kept an eye on him for awhile until i was near my exit and then i sped up and cut in the lane ahead of him. i hope he was pissed.

For even more fun: Assuming he's driving on the shoulder, get the license plate and call 911 or the DOT report dangerous driving number. You might even have the satisfaction of seeing him pulled over later.

unmarked cop car 50 yards ahead of me
I was doing exactly the speed limit
car with 3 teenagers riding my ass
they pass me going very fast and give me the finger in a fit of anger
I point to the cop to try to warn them
they zoom past the cop
cop pulls them over
I pass them as they pull over to the side of the road and give them the finger

I tend to get pretty pissed when driving, so I try to avoid the highways these days. But, one of the things that drives me crazy are the people that come to complete stops on entrance ramps. Isn't that like the first thing you learn not to do in driver's ed?

This happens to me all the freakin' time. Drives me insane. And I'm not one of those that tends to automatically go for the horn... so I don't think of the horn until it is too late. So so annoying.

First of all, if you didn't make a complete stop prior to making a right turn on the red light, you were already breaking the law.

Secondly, it appears that you had plenty of time to notice that a green light was imminent and should have noticed that there was a pedestrian ready to cross the street once it had done so.

Thirdly, the pedestrian should've stared you down to make certain you weren't going to run over her ass and 2x2 foot bag.

And lastly, none of you have stories on road rage until you drive down Sunset Blvd and see the complete idiots who occupy it everyday.

Yesterday I was walking down the sidewalk and passed some douchebag-looking runner...seconds later, I hear some kind of ruckus behind me and turn around to see the guy come INCHES from being plowed through by a car going at least 40. After the runner realized he was still alive he kicked the SHIT out of the car while yelling "FUCK YOU!"

The thing is, he ran across an intersection at a fucking GREEN LIGHT (meaning the guy driving the car was going through a green light). I wanted to kill the jackass runner and I wasn't even driving. Luckily, I saw the car decide to make a quick left and speed after the runner. I couldn't see what happened, but hopefully he got his ass kicked.

i saw something like that happen the other day, except it was just some guy who was running to catch a train and didn't notice that literally the moment he stepped in the street, the light turned green. so one car starts to go and he jumps out of the way before staring down the driver. idiot.

i had done a complete stop...
she jumped the gun...must have started walking on red and STILL had to take additional steps to reach my van

she was a raging bitch, already mad prior to this, no doubt in my mind

Yesterday I was driving a couple of car lengths behind an SUV. He must've been tailgating because he suddenly stopped and swerved to the left to avoid the car in front of him. I'm thinking he missed an accident by inches.

After traffic started again, I changed lanes to pass him. While passing him, I saw that he was again aggressively tailgating the guy in front of him, with less than a foot between them.

:wtf:
