10 Songs by The Ergs!

The 10-track mix here serves a dual purpose:

1 - intro to the Ergs! ( riyl - descendents, other 80s SST bands, being a music nerd)

2 - more reference rock filler for whatever your needs are. all these songs reference other songs/albums/artists lyrically and/or musically. extra game = see if you can find them all!

01. ben kweller
02. aja
03. boston, ma
04. rod argent
05. country skronk
06. introducing morrissey
07. not a second time (ok this one's a cover)
08. linus and lucy (ditto)
09. books about miles davis
10. upstairs/downstairs

catswilleatyou's The Blind Shake Mix

[img][650:488]http://www.catswilleatyou.com/expanse/uploads/1209320158_blindshake.jpg[/img]

The Blind Shake are a three piece minimalist / psychedelic / garage-punk band from Minneapolis, MN. I had included the track "Peach Lines" on the 2007 Obner compilation. This mix contains songs from their two full lengths, a side project with psychedelic-noise pioneer Michael Yonkers, and one of their solo projects. They record all this stuff (analogue) in their home.

I think people into music from the first psychedelic era and contemporary garage rock will love this.

1. Running from the Mail (The Blind Shake)
2. Been Young (The Blind Shake)
3. My Teacher (Jim and the French Vanilla)
4. Honeytown (The Blind Shake)
5. Here's What I'm Gonna Do (Michael Yonkers with the Blind Shake)
6. Peach Lines (The Blind Shake)
7. Witch Hunt (Jim and the French Vanilla)
8. Crazymaker (The Blind Shake)
9. Don't Even Try (Michael Yonkers with the Blind Shake)
10. Midnight Scream (The Blind Shake)

I'll give you my (tenative) track listing. (Will up the tracks soon):
•Two Sisters
•Picture Book
•Strangers
•Hairy Rag
•Waterloo Sunset
•Nothing In the World Can Stop Me Worrying 'Bout That Girl
•All Of My Friends Were There
•Days
•Sunny Afternoon
•Next Door Neighbor (Ray live with Yo La Tengo)

Please keep in mind that the songs are based solely upon the Kinks songs that I actually have in a digital format. (So, sadly, Muswell Hillbillies will not be represented, as it surely would have been otherwise.)

Did my The Residents mix today. I didn't go with a strict "10 favorite tracks" because I hate making mixes with multiple songs from the same album. But their discography is large enough that that won't matter. This will be a better listen for anyone else than if I had stuck with my 10 favorites.

Image

01) Everyone Comes to the Freak Show (Freak Show)
02) On the Way (To Oklahoma) (Animal Lover)
03) Twilight Zone (Smell My Picture)
04) Godsong (Fingerprince)
05) Insincere (Tweedles)
06) Constantinople (Duck Stab)
07) Breath and Length (Meet the Residents)
08) The Ultimate Disaster (Mark of the Mole)
09) Scent of Mint (Residue Duex)
10) Aircraft Damage (Santa Dog EP)

And I provide a link to both mediafire and rapidshare, depending on your preference. (Largely because I forget about mediafire until I started uploading via rapidshare. And the thread DOES specify mediafire...)

All y'all better listen to this. Because it was this project that sparked my Mac/iTunes/iPod anger thread earlier today.
