Relatively Clean Rivers

Image

Solid record from Phil Pearlman, the guy behind the 60's epic psych record Beat of the Earth. Relatively Clean Rivers’ only record was released in 1975/76 though it sounds straight out of 1969. This record is extremely rare with only 500 copies printed back in the day which Phil supposedly just gave away on college campuses. This is a solid country rock record from a period that was thought to be void of such hidden country psych gems. The excellent Hello Sunshine immediately stands out, sounding like an underground version of CSNY. If you have Wilco's Sky Blue Sky, listen to You Are My Face and immediately you'll notice a distinct similarity between the two songs. As for the rest of the record, everything comes off very natural and the music never sounds forced or dishonest. Standout tracks include, Easy Ride, Journey Through The Valley and the aforementioned Hello Sunshine. There's only nine songs of which three are instrumentals. RCR is not bound to be everyone’s cup of tea on OBNER but I can think of many people on this board who would certainly dig it.

RIYL : Lazy country rock, California Sunsets and country living clean, American Beauty era Dead

Haven't heard this album in a good while. It's a good one though.

Sounds good. I'll pick this up when I get home.
Thanks, Mark!

First listen and it sounds really good. No individual song has really grabbed me, but the sound of it is great. Could be a grower.

How does this make any logical sense at all? I don't get the "joke." And no, I meant....a while....
