Lets move on to doing this again a couple of months with the same results and responses? You're welcome.

You were funnier when you were 16.

Indeed.

Though, I think Luol's Dong could come close. (Not an Obner, but a blog semi-frequently linked in Deadspin Blogdome. The name reminds me of your former avatar &/or sig.)

Nevermind - I ranked this. I don't listen to it all that much and I think In Utero, as others have said, is a better album, in that it sneers and huffs on its own despite its predecessor. But, Nevermind, has its place for me in that it restored rock, among others, at that time, that age, where I was in that moment. I may never listen to it again but I can't deny what it was to me then.

The Bends - Too high a ranking for me, but my favorite of a band I find intriguing but not into. This album is sort of a post Nirvana wonder I guess for the likes of me. I do not revisit it much but honestly hanker for it when I do.

Dylan - Tracks - Not surprised. Like the Beatles/Stones I just never collected a lot of Dylan. I know the staples and I read references to songs I like that and follow up. His influences steep through my favorites(ie. Knopfler). I know his impact, I have favortie songs by him, but I never dig deeper. My fault, but I am resigned enough like the Beatles and Stones that he is a source of continued discovery.

Doolittle - I did not rank but should have. I've got 2 years in my life where Debaser began and ended debauched nights.

Beatles - There was a girl I knew who pushed the Beatles like I never knew them. I was ok with that.

It always amazes me when the lesser-read/talked-about Gawker sites ban commenters. Usually, they are begging for 'em... Thus, the return of Top of a/the Morning! (Got back in thru Gizmodo.)

Hell, even Gawker itself banning commenters. Really? Too offensive? How? Coming from you? (Laughable.)

The only site that bans & I think nothing of it: Jezebel. (Those broads are so numerous, there, in editorial, I am sure at least one is always ragging.)

Difference being, the female editorial at the 'Bot is cool. Lux Nitemare, Audacia Ray -- thick-skinned & colourfully funny.

The Slut Machine, et. al., at Jezzy -- judgmental creeps that should not be hurling the stones they do.

WTF is this?

Anywho, I think that all of these albums are, indeed, great. I don't listen to Dylan much, but I won't bash those who do.

Nevermind - A new generation needed their own Sgt Pepper. Yes it was refreshing to hear especially after all that 80's hair metal but the album is not that great.

The Bends - Great album. If you don't like Fake Plastic trees then I suggest you see a doctor.

Blood On The Tracks - Dylan comes back to form on this one. Personally his voice still irritates me but he makes up for it.

Doolittle - I don't get the hype over the Pixies. Really I don't.

Rubber Soul - Can't ever argue with this one.

nevermind - haven't heard this in forever. in fact looking at my itunes i don't even have this anymore. i kind of want to listen to this soon.

the bends - great album.

blood on the tracks - one of THE BEST albums.

dolittle - never been much of a pixies fan. mostly due to not giving them a chance. i have had this cd for many years (I probably bought this when i was 11 or 12 and then just never really listened to it)

rubber soul - i mean guys cmon. beatles this beatles that. I did not expect to see this album so high, but i can't complain too much. it's a great album just like most of their albums

Be damned, I didn't think I'd see another one from my list, but Dylan went high. Of the rest, only one I've heard is Nevermind, and nevermind it, IMO.

A-ha! But it's not "the best 100 albums", it's "your favorite 100 albums".

And considering how many people in this thread have stated that they liked Nevermind once but they never need to listen to it again, does it really belong on a list of favorite albums?

Your top 10 should be albums you listen to over and over regularly and still love. Not albums you liked when you were 12 but never want to hear again.

How would you qualify the difference between the "best" albums in your collection and your "favourite".

This is a boring batch. I find it hard to understand how people aren't really played out on most of these.

Nevermind - It's gotten impossible for me to hear the 3 biggest singles from this album, but there's some good stuff on here that hasn't been worn out. In Utero is better/should be higher blah blah blah. I feel like this is here by default. I don't care what this "did for rock", and 20 years from now no one else will either. They'll still probably like this record, though, just on its own merits, but I'm surprised so many people here still consider this a favorite record of theirs.

The Bends - This holds a pretty special place for me in that it reminds me of a very brief time in high school when Radiohead seemed like "my band". No one I knew (in the little town where I lived) listened to them and I remember lending this CD to friends back before OKC came out. Yet this leaves me pretty cold when I listen to it now. I may even like Amnesiac better these days.

Blood on the Tracks - Great album, one of my favorite Dylans, and the best of this bunch. Didn't make my list, but it wouldn't be far off. Pretty much the ultimate statement of maturity by any songwriter.

Doolittle - I had a very brief period of serious Pixies fandom, but now they seem like a band that was never really that important to me. I remember a caffeine-and-pot fueled all-nighter or two back in college that this album helped me get through, and I developed a real affinity for it then. However, I don't know if it was seeing them live or what, but I've cooled off on the Pixies big time now. This might have been a top 20 album for me at one point, and now it's not even in the picture.

Rubber Soul - Every Beatles album after this with the possible exception of Let It Be is better. Even Help! is a better album than this, IMO. I know this is an *important* record, a pivotal one, but I don't really care. The songs are vastly inferior to Revolver and are only stylistic improvements over their previous stuff. I've just never liked this album that much.

I find this a bit difficult to swallow. That's like suggesting we don't discuss the impact of Bringing It All Back Home or Rubber Soul anymore, which we still do, 40 years after the fact. The musical impact that Nevermind had is pretty undeniable and I'm not even one of the one's who typically talk about its "importance", I just happen to still dig the songs on it. The fact is, the album was pretty damn influential.

This is the best description of Radiohead I have ever heard. I love this album, though.

Nevermind - so much ink has been spilled here, you can't un-open the Pandora's Box that it is. That said, and no matter how played out it is, "In Bloom" is one of my favorite songs ever. It evokes a visceral emotional response,

On the other hand, I have ZERO emotional response to Rubber Soul. Peopel shit themselves over this album, and its merely OK, and right in the middle of the Beatles canon to me.

Doolittle - not my fave Pixies album (I am the only person on earth who thinks Bossanova is the best) but it's undeniably awesome.

Dylan - possibly more overrated than Blonde on Blonde, but again, its an awesome album, and I have ni quibble with it. Idiot Wind is one of my favorite Dylan songs, and Lily, Rosemary should be made into a movie.
