I realize I'm inviting ridicule here, but isn't it at least a little surprising Pearl Jam's "Ten" didn't grab a spot in the 90s or 80s?

I ranked Vs..

Also if Sgt. Pepper's has already been ranked, I honestly don't know. Did My Aim is True pop up yet?

CRCR - It's too high, and that Pavement still matters so much to so many is a little surprising. But it's a really good album that I have a lot of fond memories tied to so I'm definitely not complaining.

Pet Sounds - I can see how some people would hate this album. If you're dead inside. Or if you were abused as a child.

Abbey Road - See Pet Sounds.

OK Computer - I would like to thank all the haters for giving us a reprieve from hearing the same old shit from them about this album. So far anyway. I think this album has aged fine, but Radiohead backlash has been in full swing for about 3 years now so I'm a little weary of discussing its merits.

Let It Bleed - Good Stones album. No surprise/complaint here.

Naturally this compiled list is pretty anticlimactic, but I'm hoping that at least Londing Calling has been bumped from the top spot. I guess I'm rooting for Exile as I'm not a big fan of Blonde on Blonde, and I don't think Revolver or Highway 61 can pull it off.

sgt pepper's was 96. darkness was 68. I don't think my aim is true made the list but obs seem to prefer this year's model which already did appear. there's no way that my aim is true is top 5.

Vs. is a better album than Ten IMO. I wouldn't put either close to top 100 though.

Blonde on Blonde maybe?

Yep, that seems about right.

I was thinking Darkness on the Edge of Town instead of Sgt Peppers but I wasn't paying too close attention to the lists. Definitely the other four.

Y'all the type to read the last few pages of the book first, I guess...

People who complained about "Slanted" are gonna be the same that hate on "Crooked Rain", but that album's damned good, and 17 other actual listmakers seem to agree with me.

Hating Pet Sounds is akin to clubbing a baby seal. For whatever "lack of balls" it has, it sure ripped through the music industry and changed the way that people were making music more than any Stones album ever did.

Abbey Road, if it didn't include "Octopus Garden", would be perfect the whole way through, and I second that thought that anyone who disputes this should listen to the "2nd half medley" segment really loud, late at night, and dare to call into question the meddle of this album.

Never liked Radiohead, but that's a personal preference. Let it Bleed is good, but ranks towards the bottom of my 5 favorite stones albums...

If there is an Elvis Costello in the top 5 then this board really needs to seek help.

People here seem to have forgotten Revolver. It will be in the top 5

I had CR, CR on my list but I believe pretty low... I am shocked it's top 10.

No question we're looking at London Calling, Exile, Revolver, Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61.

I'm really surprised we didn't see Ten or another Costello as well. Ten is one of those albums that could be ranked anywhere from 100-5.

I think Slanted is the better choice... but I also think Pavement is a "placeholder" for some who made lists... a response to the sense that this list is just like any other "best" with so many mainstream hits. My guess is that many wanted to honor this lo-fi "alternative" rock ethos that many Obners found themselves listening to in the 90's... their youth. But for that, Slanted is the better choice (even RS top 500 all time ranked Slanted 100 places higher than CRCR). It was a momentary accounting and/or memory error for Obners.

and i personally like CR,CR a lot, i feel it is a much more coherent album and more enjoyable listen than slanted. i ranked it as high as i did (and ahead of slanted) for that reason. great album.

it already irritated me to see revolver higher ranked in a lot of lists than abbey road. try to listen to revolver through headfones and then try it with abbey road and then tell me what you liked more...

Surprisingly, another pick from my list goes high (Stones), but a lot higher than I had it. Of the other 4, 2 I've not heard and 2 I just don't care one way or another.

Seriously, Yield? I mean, it's one of my favourite PJ albums but I never thought for a minute it would actually chart.

It's my favorite PJ album at this point - Ten and Vs are amazing, but talk about 2 albums you never need to hear again. - but I am certainly not shocked it's not on the list. I think a lot of the toilet bowl eater set around here even rate Vitalogy (one of the worst albums ever made) higher than Yield.
