McCoy Tyner: Nights of Ballads and Blues

Laid back, melodic piano based jazz. Excellent for either finishing off a late night or meandering awake on a fuzzy morning. Mostly standards and blues with one original.

one of my favorite records, and an album I was introduced to as a sophomore in hs. Scared the crap out of me and that intrigued me.

It's probably the remaster but I'm not sure. i downloaded it recently off a reggae blog. It was my first exposure to Big Youth and I didn't much care for it. Kinda boring to my ears.

Considering that Big Youth album and the Congos record are a couple of my favorite reggae records...I think we can probably agree our reggae tastes are pretty divergent.

Sonny Rollins: The Sound of Sonny

My favorite Sonny Rollins album finds the tenor in fine form. An excellent example of his smooth bop style Splits the difference between some of the more frantic bop stylings heard out there and a nice mellow groove. Bonus...listening to an Original Japenese Riverside mono copy.
