I would like to hear opinions on Kaiser Chiefs please.

Obviously the media buzz is overwhelmingly positive but, cynic that I am, I'd like to hear from real people who's wage packet isn't dependent on record company advertising.

Any good? Who do they sound like? etc etc

Well I can't speak for the whole CD, but the song "I Predict a Riot" is very very catchy in the current Brit-Rock sense.

I would definitely link them to Athlete, Kasabian with a bit, a touch, a smattering of Dogs Die in Hot Cars.

I am going to look for the Full Length CD when i hit the shop next.

I am sure that others know more then I. So please... speak up!

I've heard a lot about it- I really hate Kasabian though.

the only thing that makes me think of kasabian and the kaiser chiefs in the same regard is their placement in the alphabet. otherwise, i think the kaiser chiefs are similar to the futureheads and their ilk. i am debating spending my $10 when they come here in a few weeks. one of the openers is good, so that may sway me too.

Stylus magazine didn't give it a great review. Sounds pretty much like I expected: catchy single, mediocre album that will garner them attention on the radio.

Agreed. I like the Futureheads' album better, but the KC album is also pretty good. Lots of '80s-ness.

i think i have lost my "catchy single" gene or something. i've heard it on the radio fairly often (or maybe twice, but it is repetitive) and just thought...well it didn't make me want to hear more.

Downloaded it the other night...and I only listened to it once, but it sounds pretty good for just one listen..1st half sounds like the single "I predict a Riot", the 2nd half sounds a little slower...If it was $10.00 or lower I'd pick it up..(And I will when it is officially released)
I think it sounds a lot better than the Kasabian album...I didn't really like that one at all..

I'm pretty sure Dalen loved it, if that says anything. Top 10 or 20 material I think it was.

I really like "I predict a Riot" and "Oh My God" and even added "I predict a riot" to my first volume mix comp for co-workers.

By genre do you mean rock?

i'm starting to lean this way too. i mean, i like it ok and all...but this and futureheads and dogs die in hot cars kinda all meld together into one big "meh" for me. a few strong songs...but pretty bland overall.

Kaiser Chiefs are worth cheking out.
Nothing really new (as far as style goes), but they do it well.

I'm not into Kasibian.
The singer sounds a cross between Stone Roses and some one hit wonder band that I cant think of....at the moment.

kasabian is primal scream-lite, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I think I'll give this a miss.

My record buying intution was definately saying "no" yesterday (I bought Thievery Corporation instead) and this thread hasn't convinced me I should ignore it.

No offense to those that like them, of course.
