i know that most people on here will probably have nothing to do with them, but i'll admit the band did play a role in shaping my musical tastes about 4 years ago as i came to college. "something to write home about" is still a great album. plus there's that whole thing about helping make "emo" popular. but we all know that it's just a tool of the government anyway.

I did not expect to be saying this at such time as I would learn that the Get-up Kids are parting ways, but, this is bad news. Why?... For one, it gives James DeWees more time to shit on mics in an effort to be unfunnily funnily unfunny, or something, as Reggie & the Full Effect (which is second to Har-Mar for indie pomposity and delusion of grandeur). Two, there will be the inevitable solo albums from each other member, touting their ambivalence for the break-up. Three, people will actually like that shit.

I thought I liked them and then I was listening to Promotional Copy and it was maddening that there'd be one decent song and then a really stupid skit/song over and over through the whole album.

They do a great cover of Raining Blood though.
