Lately here I have noticed disdain over the current crop of Brit Rock/Pop. I for one, really enjoy the current sound, I don't mind the repetition, I don't mind the sing-alikes, but I wouldn't mind a change at the same time.

In the 80's there was the new wave/pop sound, then depending on your musical food chain listing you either went gloomier ala 4AD or looked at your shoes, and made a wall of fuzz. Both of which I loved.

More recently there has been the Coldplay/Keane/Snow Patrol sound with at least some ties, albeit remotely, to Radiohead.

Where to next? Will an electronic sound come back like New Order/Erasure/Depeche Mode or???

Please discuss.....

i've heard a few of the new electro bands from the UK, but they all steal way too much from the three you mentioned. many sound like new order clones that just couldn't get it right, but really, how could they?

i really don't mind some of these bands either, but it's starting to become diluted, as with any scene. and i really don't know what will persevere now. i wouldn't mind a throwback to actual rock music like ocean colour scene, but i won't be disappointed if that doesn't happen.

New Super Furry Animals in May.

Once upon a time there were British bands that sounded fresh and different. I understand that nothing is really new anymore but most of these new bands are retreads.

I understand that SFA are in a different class but why can’t a newer band be this creative anymore?

There are others that I look forward to like Elbow, JJ72 and Oceansize but a debut that knocks me on my ass hasn’t come for a while.

np: Dead Meadow – Feathers
