The Animals' "The Story of Bo Diddley"
Lloyd Price's "Stagger Lee"
Carl Perkins "Glad All Over"
Little Richard "The Girl Can't Help It"
Buddy Holly "That'll Be the Day"

I dunno, I always end up veering into old Rockabilly, C&W and Blues when I dwell on oldies.

I dig the Jamaican cover of this, can't remember the artist.

Goddamn that is an awesome song. A few that I came up with:

Young Rascals - People Got To Be Free
Three Dog Night - Your Song (Elton John Cover)
The Fifth Dimension - Never My Love
Joe Cocker - Delta Lady
Mountain - For Yasgur's Farm
Vanilla Fudge - You Keep Me Hanging On (yeah its 7 min long, so what)
Grassroots - Midnight Confession
Arlo Guthrie - City of New Orleans

Just a few off the top of my head.

Joan Baez - Here's To You

Does it count as "forgotten" if it's been in a Wes Anderson movie?

I've been fairly obsessed with The Beatles 'From Me To You' of late.

And OK, he's been unhipper for longer than any other person in the history of popular music but Cliff Richard's 'Move It' (1958, first ever non American rock n roll track) is pretty awesome.

The Merry-Go-Round - "Live"

And a lot of those old girl groups are pretty brilliant and too-often overlooked.

How about a couple more instrumentals then:

Link Wray: Rumble
Duane Eddy: Rebel Rouser

Another vote for some Everly Brothers as well...maybe Bird Dog
Anyone for Oh Boy! by Buddy Holly.

More:
Fats Domino: Walkin' To New Orleans
Dion: Lovers Who Wander
Little Richard: Rip It Up
Gene Vincent: Be Bop A Lula
Jerry Lee Lewis: High School Confidential
Ronnie Hawkins: My Girl Is Red Hot
Mac Curtis: Little Miss Linda
Hank Mizell: Jungle Rock

Ah hell...I'll stop now...but I do love some oldies shit.

Does anyone have a decent oldies station left in their city...all the oldies stations down here became lame ass dinosaur rock stations.
