for 5 and a half weeks from April 14- May 23 to go to Sweden to visit her family while Noah is under 2 years old and only pays 10% fare. I don't have the vacation time, nor the money for an extra ticket, so Iam staying put.

I need things to do this time, IE cheap shows to see. Help me work up an itinerary of things to keep me busy and not broke. So far I have these things considered:

April 16 - Andrew Bird/ Clyde Federal - Metro - $15
April 22 - Going to a buddie's surprise birthday party
April 23 - Wedding Present - Double Door - $15
April 26 - M.O.T.O. Wise Fools - IPO - $8
April 27 - Cyclesomething/ Dolly Varden IPO - Schubas $8
May 1 - Hop On Pop - IPO - Wise Fools - $8
May 3 - Graham Cousens CD Release - Double Door - $3
May 6 - Crystal Method (dj set) - Metro $21
May 8/9 - Built To Spill/ Mike Johnson - Metro $18
May 11 - Killers - Riviera $22
May 11/12 - Gang of Four/ Radio 4 - Metro $23.50
May 12 - Snow Patrol - Vic Theater - $19 (SOLD OUT)
May 13 - Doves & Mercury Rev - Vic Theatre $22.50
May 14 - Raveonettes/ The Peels - Double Door - $14
May 19 - Star Wars premier

Are any of the other bands that are playing International Pop Overthrow good?
Why aren't Graham or Paper Airplane Pilots playing? Especially on Spade Kitty Records night. :(

I think Eisley is playing Chitown soon... yep, 4/9 at the house of blues. I've never heard 'em, but the wife likes em a lot.

I repeat: The Sixpence you're allowed to like. That's a good thing coming from me, not a compliment when used by some others.

DAMN! I thought this was going to be the juiciest thread we've had in months.

Go to Built to Spill.

Ir means they're stylistically similiar to Sixpence, The Innocence Mission, The Sundays and a whole lot of indie pop bands of the past six or seven years, but Sixpence have the whole "chirpy singles" millstone around their necks. Eisley haven't done that yet

Ah. Yeah, Sixpence's singles are garrrrrbage. I mean, there's worse for certain, but what's made it to the radio is pretty bad, fluffy crap. But I do have a weakspot for pop, if it's well done. Now I'm curious... as I mentioned, I haven't heard them yet.

Built To Spill!!! I second that emotion.

He better get his ass back IN town or I'll kill him.
Can I stand in for him? The show must go on.

Timmy,

Add: Friday May 13th- Doves & Mercury Rev at Vic Theatre

I'll be at that one.

Oh, and this thread title really freaked me out because just this morning I found out my one boss and her husband are splitting(he's packing shit up as I write this) and he just quit the Spa.

AND, my sister and HER husband split up a few days ago.

Yeesh.

My neighbor and I are heading downtown for this one. The Weddoes is a band that's challenging for a RIYL. Expect a lot of guitars and vocals that are often difficult to hear. They don't do encores. Their earlier sound was on the jangly side, with lots of furious strumming. Then for a while they played with a lot of distortion.

When you can hear the vox, Gedge writes some of the best relationship-gone-wrong songs out there.

You can probably get a good feel by checking the samples on Amazon. Check out Bizarro, George Best, Saturnalia, and Seamonsters.

Jen, where did you get that info? Do you have tickets already? How much were they?

Damen, the Swedish Army might be just slightly tougher than the French, bwahahaha. They are both too worried about fashion.
