I would agree...assuming that's what you actually do. Couldn't you have your doc write you a note for a less physically demanding position? Again, you've probably pursued this route as well...pun intended.

2 totally different drugs
one is a benzo. the other is a narcotic.

one's for anxiety and the other is for pain. and you want xanax over valium.

honestly, for chronic back pain, massive doses of ibruprofen are much better than narcotic pain killers.

thanks for all the info.

i'm not sure if the mail bag is really the main cause of the problem since i've been carrying it for 9+ years and have never really had a problem. i think it might be cause i threw out my old computer desk when i moved and have sort of cobbled together a new one from a nightstand and a small tabletop and i spend way too much time online. i sometimes catch myself slouching in the chair instead of sitting up straight like i used to. i really need to start getting to the gym again as i haven't been in almost a year. i don't think it's bad enough to need surgery but i might get that shot just to help short-term.

Hell, I wasn't even speaking to the obvious psychological train wrecks running all out around here.

and oh, by the way, strengthen your core dude.

What does this mean?

sit ups, reverse sit ups, any weight training/exercises to strenghten those muscles.

adding planks really helped me the most. I regularly did normal ab stuff but doing the planks really helped my core tremendously. i need to start doing them again on a regular basis.

Get a second opinion and how to treat without surgery or injections unless absolutely necessary. Stretching wise, if you have a herniated disc or worse I'd be wary of too much torsion on that area.

Sciatica, but be informed by doctor, I personally have alleviated through stretching. My sciatica pain points were right side lower back, hip, upper calf(outside knee) and upper outside ankle. Arch supports helped but stretching and certain yoga positions nearly rid the pain. Pain comes back again depending on amount of walking, but usually due to falling off a good stretching regimen. If your spine is ok core work is always a plus with the ladies as well I presume.

I'll throw this out here since shiv mentioned posture and nobody has recommended these:

get fitted for an elastic back brace

I wear a velcro one at work and almost never have back pain but when I do I head to the community pool and lounge in the jacuzzi which really helps
