:rawk:

This was the song that hit me the hardest on the first whirl through. Fucking great.

I mentioned upthread that this was one of my favorite of the new tracks they were playing during the strawberry jam shows...glad they did it justice

Each listen through the album reveals more stuff that I like on it. I remember reading that the album had a significant increase in the 'bass'. While not every song reflects this, there are some fantastic bombs dropped throughout the album. It's in line with where Panda Bear was going with Person Pitch but way more fleshed out.

I like it more each time I put it on, so that bodes pretty well for this one.

Going to a listening party at Grimey's tomorrow. I'll take pics for those interested.

Femdisco and I headed to a listening party at Grimey's. Listened casually over loudspeakers surrounded by 50 or so people checking it out as well. I definitely heard the low-end. Looking forward to hearing it over my home loudspeakers. Pre-ordered the CD.

As promised hear are some admittedly grainy cell-phone pics of the crowd:

Not that I noticed. Remember that music geeks just LOOK like they haven't showered. Usually achieved by not washing hair or applying product that makes your hair look disheveled.
The same store hosted in-store record signings by Brian Wilson and Elvis Costello that were more populated and probably smelled more like money and old.

Not quite. But I'm sure Pitchfork will agree with you.

i feel an obsession coming on with this album. this thing is pretty fucking great, and getting better and better with each listen through.

I'm actually really surprised this thread has stayed as dead as it has been since the album leaked a week or so ago.

Yeah, it seems like it's either dividing the lovers and the haters a little further, or confusing them, because I get the sense that some people that love this band aren't getting this record. I think it's the best thing they've done, and I could give it a lot more hyperbole than that.

anyone know the story behind that, other than geographical relevance?

just giving this a listen for the first time right now. i definitely like it, but i'm not a long time hardcore fan. i've only really liked strawberry jam and that panda bear album out of all their previous stuff. this definitely seems like a good mix of both of those to me.

I was just going to post that Pitchfork gave it a 9.6, but see that I was beaten to the punch. Here is the review anyway:

I haven't listened to it enough to give it a true review, but in no way do I think it is near perfection.
