Okay, I loaded up the itunes program, and I'm loading some CD's into my computer?

Why does it take so long to import a CD? Im talking a good 1-1:30 minutes per?

The program that came with my Creative Labs, I could rip a Cd in bout 20 seconds....

I got he Windows XP, 100gig drive, 512 RAM, so it shouldnt be a computer issue....

Why is it ripping so slow, and is there a way to change it?

much thanks

im assuming youre making mp3s. to make mp3s, your computer first needs to read the cd, then encode it into mp3 form. it takes time for it to go through the cd and encode it to mp3. i dont know why the other program was doing it so quickly, maybe it was ripping into another format.

Dude 1:00 - 1:30 is fast as hell. I use EAC/lame (to get high quality) and it takes 15 minutes a CD.

That's odd...

I'm assumming the program I used for my Creative was MP3 as well.

My other option is to take the songs from My Creative Labs and send it back to my harddrive, and from there, loading em to itunes.

crud!.

Not enjoying this so far.

now, i cant figure out how to transfer music to the ipod itself... there is suppose to be a little ipod icon on my screen that I can click to transfer music, that simply is not where the booklet says it should be.

are you sure the connection's right. For example, are you trying to run a USB 2.0 iPod cord through a USB 1.0 port?

It's possible I only have a USB1 port.. (OPA has had the similar problem as me)

I pop the ipod into the dock, and on the screen a little pop up box appears saying 'this us b device can perfrom faster if you connect itto a hi-speed usb2.0 port. click here to find these ports'

i do that, and it says my computer doewsnt have them available....

i always got the same message when using the creative labs, yet, i was still able to transfer music no problem....

the booklet, say, on the bottom of the itunes screen, is a mini iopd icon, that if i click on, it will snce the i-tunes library and the ipod.....that ipod icon is not on my screen at all. and i went through ever possible feature on the page, and cant find anything remotely like it.

i hate when stuff isnt simple.

just try running your IPod through the Firewire post (if you have one)...

Apple's pretty particular about a 1.0 vs a 2.0 port...

Agreed

However, if your machine is less than a year old, I would think all the USB ports would be 2.0. Windows XP normally has some type of message that pops up when to try to plug in a 2.0 device into a 1.0/1.1 port.
