exactly.

Or maybe he was a big Iron Man fan growing up.

My wife and I both liked this. Really fun movie.

I think the pros and cons have been pretty much covered here. Robert Downey Jr. was good. So was Jeff Bridges, but he did kinda suck in the end battle (which generally kinda sucked). The teaser after the credits was pretty silly. The special effects weren't really all that impressive, but the movie really didn't rely on them much at all, which was nice. This is one of the better Marvel characters, and it was great to see him handled this well.

Preview for the new Hulk movie looked really sketchy, though. I actually think the new CG for the Hulk looks worse. He seems shinier or something. Ed Norton could be a great casting choice for Bruce Banner, though. I liked the other guy, but Norton really seems like a better fit.

Caught it this weekend as well, and really enjoyed it. Seemed like a good balance between light-heartedness and seriousness. Kinda wish there was more destroying of weapons/showing off the suit before the final battle though.

I've had a similar reaction, but I've only seen the trailer on my PC. And I was in the tiny minority who actually liked a lot of the 1st Hulk movie.

The first Hulk just really dragged and had all this stuff with his dad which I didn't recall at all from the comics. And the scene with the Hulk dogs was really painful and felt thrown in because they hadn't had any action in a while.

I'm not sure why they chose to go with The Abomination as the villain this time around. Just like Iron Monger and Venom, it's just an evil version of the hero with the same powers for the most part. I personally find that pretty boring and would've preferred to see The Leader.

I was expecting that central asian looking bald dude always fondling his rings to turn out to be the Mandarin. Is this obviously the case or am i some kind of stupid?

(Haven't watched/read iron man cartoon/comic since I was a wee lad.)

Me too, especially since they referred to the group as the Ten Rings. Sequel setup? Note we didn't actually see him die.

I finally got around to seeing it yesterday, too - & really, really enjoyed it. Everything else has pretty much been covered, but I'll add that I thought the ending ( the last press conference scene ) was cool.

Favreau says The Mandarin's going to be in the second one as well as War Machine.

Also: Justin Hammer and Mickey Rourke as Blacklash.

oh shit...blacklash.

i know they'll "redo" it but it'd be great if they kept his costume the same.

Is Rourke officially in it? I heard they low-balled him and Samuel L. and Samuel told them to take a hike. I heard some ridiculous figure like $250K for Rourke to play the baddie in #2. I hope he's getting a cut from the box office, merch, etc. IM1 made oodles of money.

IMDB makes it sound official but who knows? If the Mandarin's in it, he's got to be the main villain. I don't know how much they'd pay Rourke for a supporting gig.

In Iron Man 2 he is going to use a phony Facebook account to infiltrate terrorist networks. He's going to build a suit that automatically updates his Twitter, and places his Chipotle orders as he flies in proximity to them. It's going to be a great FILM!

I read an interview with Robert Downey Jr and he said the Burger King thing is in the movie because he had some sort of epiphany while eating a cheeseburger from Burger King. He said it was one of the most disgusting things he had eaten and it made him realize he needed to get his shit together.

i can't buy that. especially since it plays a totally opposite role in the movie. burger king didn't pay one penny for that?
