but what's the point of these threads blowing up within a day of a leak if not to make slapdash posts?

well really, it's fine and dandy that people are already giving it a grade, that just calls for a post like mine to follow sooner or later. if i didn't do it, i'm sure someone would post something similar.

that's just the nature of the thread beast

i hadn't even listened to it when i made my other post. it was mostly making fun of dalen's penchant for hyperbole.

i have since listened to it and agree with splates & bloor. that 7+ minute mostly instrumental track in the middle doesn't help.

apparently the leaked version we are all listening to is missing 2 tracks that will be on the final cut when the album is released.

definitely enjoying this album a lot - especially "fences." can't wait to see them in june (though terminal 5 is not the best venue...)

I think this album is a grower.

When I first heard the song "1901" I though, "eh, it's alright but they still haven't outdone their first album.

But after putting it on my most current mix cd and playing it in the car it's become one of my most favorite tracks right now.

french band with ties to air and daft punk. i think they were actually air's backing band for a while. one of the guys was in a band with the dudes from daft punk back in the day too. "if i ever feel better" was the fucking jam about 2000/2001. "too young" was in lost in translation. they've had, what, 4 albums now. pretty good electronic, funk, pop stuff.

yes, Thomas, the singer, is also the father of Sophia Coppola's child. I am not sure if they are married but they are together for sure.

In theory I love phoenix but there is something about them that never QUITE does it for me. They do have a couple of outstanding songs though.

I saw them once a while ago and they were terrible live, but maybe things have changed. Way more Air than Daft Punk. Or Tahiti 80.

it's not really an extra track, just that long one split in two.

the album is front and end loaded with great songs, the middle is where it gets kind of boring.
