I Know there's some kind of documentary coming out about him, but Holy F-Ck=

Actor:

1. The Deer Hunter (1978) .... Stan
2. Dog Day Afternoon (1975) .... Sal
3. The Godfather: Part II (1974) .... Fredo Corleone
... aka Mario Puzo's The Godfather: Part II (USA: complete title)
4. The Conversation (1974) .... Stan
5. The Godfather (1972) .... Fredo Corleone
... aka Mario Puzo's The Godfather (USA: complete title)

Rumor has it that, not only did they just film all his scenes first for "The Deer Hunter" but, because of it's misogynistic overtones, Meryl Streep declined to be in the movie altogether until she realized that it'd allow her to spend more time with her dying Fiance (Cazale)....

Pretty incredible career for sure. He was kinda in the right place with Italian-American actors were hot on film. Deer Hunter is definite top 10 for me.

That film is fucking MONSTER. Almost incomprehensible in its toughness. I love it, but I am not sure I ever need to see it again.

Watching it definitely isn't an enjoyable experience, but the more time passes, the more removed you are from it, the more it lingers and gets better.

Cool. I will definitely be looking out for it. Imagine what he could have done if he lived to play a leading role in something.

I think I pull it out once or twice a year a revel in its greatness.

A perfect actor. I've seen all the movies and there isn't a second on screen where he is unrealistic or unbelievable. Never knew he was engaged to Meryl Streep.

Deerhunter is good, but damn if that wedding scene doesn't go on forever.

I think Cazale is brilliant, but one could argue that he did not display much range in his characters, or at least his range had never been displayed. I have only seen bits and pieces of The Conversation, but all the other liste roles have been very similar. I think he was very close to becoming type-cast.

Was he also in Mean Streets?
