When will the anti-overly-hopped beer backlash occur?

it already has. This is why the Pale Ale is the only Stone I really drink anymore, since I like to enjoy my taste buds.

Between and "anti" and the "backlash" I can't figure out which way you mean. So it's a theoretical backlash against people who are against highly-hopped beers? Thus, as a movement it is pro-hop?

Their Pennant Ale is easily one of the two or three best beers I've ever had.

I learned today that if I opt to have a certain surgery done, I will never be able to drink beer again. I'll be able to take a sip but that'll be it.

The surgery is definitely a plus, but...damn, no beer...ever. EVER! A beverage I will sorely miss.

Goodbye, beer...helloooooooo, hard liquor!

Ok so there are 3 of those in here, and I've had 2 now, and it's just ok. Nothing amazing. I'm really surprised they did so much for you.

Yeah, I really like them. I think for a Pale Ale they drink super easy. My complaint with most Pales is two things 1) carbonation, almost always too much or too little, and I think this one was perfect and 2) smell not matching taste, there are a lot of Pales that promise big on the nose, and then taste like everything else out there, this one's taste matched well, a bit earthy, biscuity, just what I expected to taste after I opened the bottle.

I've wanted to try their Brown for awhile and haven't ever found it down here. If you got any of those let me know what you thought of it.

Tonight I am after some Victory Hop Devil and Full Sail Pale Ale. About to get after the first one right now. Wasn't real impressed with either the Lawnmower or Dundee last night, so hopefully tonight is better.

EDIT: This Hop Devil is really damn good. Huge hops (obviously) but balanced out nicely with a rich malt, super balance of sweet and bitter. Fairly thick but still easy to drink. Really happy with this one.

I dig the brown more than this pennant. Maybe it's a case of lower expectations - who figures on a brown ale being exciting? - but this brown is solid, balanced, nicely hopped, and very smooth. The pennant is similar, but I guess I like pale ales to shake it a little more than this. It's competent, decent, etc., when others can really be spectacular.

I stupidly didn't have any of the good stuff in the fridge today so I've been sipping on a couple Grolsh and a Capital Island Wheat (yuck).

But on the brighter side, the Mrs. and I are headed to Sugar Maple in Bayview before heading to dinner for a couple. Hopefully they'll have something high octane I haven't had yet (or at least in a while). I should be able to find something in the 60 taps of ALL American craft beers eh?

And yeah Ky, Brooklyn makes some decent stuff. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried some of it. I think it was in Chicago.

GAAAAAHHHH

I'm gonna unreel a line of flexible food-grade vinyl beer tubing behind the rental car next time I visit, all 1200 miles, and hook one end up at a bar in Milwaukee, and the other into a syringe.

Yeah, that's a confusing line of text, I guess. I meant when is the collective backlash against overly-hopped beers going to happen? I've gone on record in many beer threads as a hater of overly-hopped beer. I guess the brewmasters are also stoners, and since hops are in the cannabis family they want their beer to taste like weed?

I've found a new love, Golden Ales. I've only had:

Not necessarily all great beers, but I made a trip up to the Twin Cities on Thursday for my Uncle/Godfather's funeral and tried/brought back a ton of beer that is unavailable here in Nebraska.

I probably should have bought a case of Northern for $9, since I have never drank it, but I also bypassed smuggling a 30pk case of Schmidt back as well.

Stu - I like Tire Biter and that St. Peter's as well.

Ky/Mike - I find Brooklyn to be a better idea than the execution. Kind of like you said KY, servicable/drinkable but nothing to write home about.

In general, you can't find the Southern and East Coast beers and micro-beers here in Nebraska. It is all West Coast, Mountain and Central State beers. We get a decent selection of Minnesota beers and Chicago beers, but hardly any of the lesser known Wisconsin beers.

The Abita is nice, but the Kokanee was outstanding. There is something about velvety smooth Canadian beer

Agreed. I would rather occasionally bleed out of my eyes (or just about any orifice on my body) than give up beer...

As for myself, a nice, laid back combo of Dos Equis Amber, Red Stripe, and San Miguel Dark tonight...
