Can we build a fence bordering New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas to make sure they don't come into our country and try to take our jobs?

I guess this is as good of a time as any to bring up something I've been meaning to ask:

What do you political-types think of Obama's spending plan and the effect it will have on our country?

Texas should try to secede. Then in the ensuing Civil War, National Guard and militias can face off against the US Armed forces. After a couple of weeks we can declare victory, and juice up the economy with tax dollars spent on reconstruction of new skylines.

Everybody wins.

It's funny to watch both sides of this argument sway back and forth. "It's patriotic. It's what this country was founded on." Yes, but it's what the confederacy was founded on too, and that didn't pan out so good.

And, you know, Obama shaking Chavez' hand is the end of capitalism as we know it, signifying a new black/latin alliance to destroy all that is good and right (whote) about the country, but this douche is a patriot?

We live in a world where words are cheap and whomever yells the loudest gets the most attention - use that against these people like they try to use it against their 'enemies.'

So, again, I say this is Treason.

the viability of this proposal will hinge on whether or not the Cowboys will be able to remain in the NFL

if the price people have to pay for secession is losing their precious Cowboys, then that's a non-starter

In 99' I went to a Robert Earl Keen concert. While waiting to get in, some douchebag from Texas starts blabbing about how great Texas is and how great A&M is. The crux of his argument was that Texas could "legally leave the union" if it wanted. This notion has been repeated to me many times since. So for all the douchebags that have told me this, I hope this happens to create a Texas sized FAIL.

If Texas does secede there will not be a Republican president for a long long long long time.

One nation, under God, indivisible....

I love what's happened and that the Right is giving itself an issues wedgy to the extent that THEY are the unamerican extremists. Yep. Treason.

I have several co-workers who place ALL blame at the feet of Obama and say THAT MAN needs to be in jail. They're very angry about it and willing to explain in great detail how he's destroying our country. I've tried to understand where they're coming from just in case people like that turn violent but how people I work with everyday can be so completely full of shit and still MEAN IT, I don't get at all.

Well, to hear them talk, the stimulus packages and bank bailouts all started under Obama and investments in infrastructure and green energy are reckless and maybe even communist.

And Obama is dumb according to these people. It's like a bizarro world that I can watch but can't enter because I can't breathe the air there.

Im sure Glen Beck and Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh share alot of the blame inducing this mass paranoia in the Republican party. Saying our world is going to collapse because the top tier are getting their taxes increased 3%. Oh and dont forget Cheney and Rove spewing contradictory garbage from the policies they created the previous 8 years. As angry as Republicans get, it makes me laugh, if they had any credibility or any grounds to stand on then I could at least try to understand, but with them, there is NOTHING they can say that holds any validity.

What amazes me is the total understanding gap regarding interconnectivity. You have to spend in order to stimulate. You have to create jobs in order to stimulate. You have to fix infrastructure and overhaul school systems and health care or the subsequent financial horrors down the road will be so much greater. You have to talk to your enemies, to those you disagree with or you will never reach understandings that involve anything except shooting and namecalling. You have to do certain things in order to spur other positiive things.

But they're having none of it. It's just "you don't talk to commies, unions are bullshit, the feds are taking everything over, my taxes are supporting welfare shits, and we're throwing money into the fucking wind."

AP Poll released yesterday has Obama's approval rating at 64 percent (down three points from when he took office and about ten higher than Bush at the same point in his first term). More revealing is that over 50 of Americans think that the country is going in the right direction for the first time in many years.... and that in the middle of a depression.

I might be contradicted by the Obner Whig faction, but as I said about 8 months ago the playing field of the Body Politic has shifted. The extreme right will grow more shrill, and seem to have ever more fanatic supporters, and be more and more marginalized. I even see some Senate pickups in the 2010 election.
