There's this song that's on the Beta Band breezeblock mix (it's playing exactly 20 minutes into it if anyone has that) that's been stuck in my head for like a week now and so I turn to y'all in hopes that someone can help me figure out what it is.

It's old, funk/soul-ish (i'd place it between '75-'80, but i'm not positive about anything) and starts out with a little organ thing. It's pretty slow. anyway, the lyrics start out with

Girl I surely hate
that I ever walked away
would it help if I say
that I was wrong?

I feel just like a fool
but I have many(?) reasons to
because I deserted you
when I left home

and then comes the chorus:

You got the right to be disgusted
after all you trusted
me and I was just a fool

the guy's got sort of a scratchy voice, and there are female backup vocals. If anyone can figure this out I owe them a coke.

I think it's from Sesame Street. Was it Oscar singing?

not that i'm aware of, though i've long forgotten Oscar's voice. I'm pretty sure it's not, though
