I've been drinking a lot of the expensive shit lately but I haven't been really impressed since the Maharaja. Tried some more of the well-respected Bells, but I just don't really like their style. I definitely would consider them the most overrated brewery.

I still haven't ever found Hopslam around here, though. It's out of season now anyway, but not one all winter.

Have you tried Two-Hearted yet?

You're the only person I've ever run across to say anything of the sort.

I'm still seeing it here. I'd be willing to send it to ya if you like. It'd be worth it just so you can take back your dirty mouth comments about Bells.

Offer stands...just say the word.

Jesus, bell's overrated?!

Garbage.

I guess for every good thing out there, there's someone out there to poo poo it. Congrats.

Yeah, I've had Two-Hearted. Still not a fan. I like all the other big names: Stone, Dogfish, Rogue, Avery, etc. etc., but I just can't get into Bells.

I mean I wouldn't turn down a Hopslam, although I've heard that the shelf date on it isn't very long so it's better to get it early in the season.

You're probably right...tell ya what, bring this up next season and I give you my word I'll get it to you.

Just don't say anything else about Bells, or consider the offer retracted.

I find Bell's to be slightly overrated as well. I love Two-Hearted, Expedition and Hopslam but a lot of the rest are just OK to me. Still, three top-notch beers is more than most breweries can output, but they have such an enormous line. I guess Larry Bell is an asshole as well. There's nary a bartender in Chicago that thinks otherwise. Whatever... he still makes good beers.

Hopslam is best consumed by the end of February. I have a few bottles left but the hop character has faded considerably.

I've had waaaaaaay too many of these over the last 48hrs (client who is sponsored by them was in town). Maybe the worst mainstream beer known to man? Sorry to taint this thread with it...

edit: that picture makes me want to drink 15 spotted cows and puke under my desk right now.

Bought one of those Collaboration Not Litigation beers, have it in the fridge. Last night, however, I had this:

[img][375:500]http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/861/dscn0866.jpg[/img]

Golden Carolus Tripel

It was good, a nice spicey belgian blonde with 9%, but not really any different than the cheaper Saison Dupont or Caracole. Maybe a little clearer and sharper, but not much.

Oh and from the makers of Pork Slap, I found a sixer of some kind of wierd wheat beer, also in cans. Stay tuned.

= The Wrens for the beer world. It's ok, actually better than ok, but the hype is an order of magnitude over what the beer warrants. Great example of scarcity driving up perception.

occasionally experimental, but never really out there, and almost all their output is immediately identifiable as being theirs... yeah that works.

Rocky's Revenge is really good, as are a few others of theirs. Great little brewery.
