I actually agree, but mainly as a means of preserving it. I've loved the shit out of that song for years, and I wish overplay hadn't come so close to ruining it for me.

i saw a girl yesterday wearing a nirvana hoodie. i'd be surprised if she'd even been born in 1994. i'm getting old.

"Sex Type Thing" is particularly sucky.

And not because it's offensive or anything, but I guess there's that, too, if you want.

Just to reinforce my previous post, I jumped in the truck after lunch and thought I should check out said grunge channel to prove my point, and 'Here I come, I come, I come...' was the first thing I heard.

Wanna feel old? Just wait 'til the girl you're hitting on tells you her birthday and you realize you were sitting in the same bar stool the day she was born.

I think I've finally reached the point where I don't mind them so much. I'd never listen to them on purpose anymore (at one time I owned all 3 of their albums), but the last time I heard one of their songs ("Santeria", I think), I managed not to hate it.

There are some Pearl Jam singles that need to go away and some that I still like.

I'd be happy to never hear these again:

"Daughter"
"Better Man" (OK, not really a single, but it got tons of radio play)
"Jeremy"
"Alive"
"Evenflow"

which I think are probably their most-played songs.

Some of there less popular singles I still like, such as:

"Corduroy"
"Tremor Christ" (I think this was a single)
"Hail Hail" (Their best song IMO)
"Oceans"

and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

I think I could listen to Tremor Christ, Hail Hail, and In My Tree ad infinitum. I don't want radio to put it to the test though. And if my Latin is wrong, I'm drunk. Leave me alone, ShamWow

I'm not sure he really tried. I don't really think he sells that many records, he just packs throngs of people into his festival type shows. ATO Records isn't that bad either.

Anything from the 90s should be banned from radio for quite some time.

Word. Seriously. I'm so down with this.

Lincoln Park. Sheryl Crowe. Dave Matthews. Sublime. Korn. Spin Doctors. Gin Blossoms. Limp Bizkit. Blues Traveler. Toad The Wet Sprocket. No Doubt. Chili Peppers. Goo Goo Dolls. Alanis Morissette. Counting Crows. Better Than Ezra. Collective Soul. Bush. Creed. Live. Offspring. Seven Mary Three. Marilyn Manson.

I never want to hear any of this shit ever again.

I even notice a preponderance of STP on satellite, on that 90s 'alt-rock/grunge' channel. A near 100% guarantee of hearing something off of Core if you play it long enough.

This sort of falls in line with my criticism of satellite - it is basically a bunch of airplane channels that re-play the same songs over and over. Sure, you have a wider variety of repetition, but you rarely get the deep album cuts, or hell, anything different than you would hear on the 'terrestrial radio' equivalent.

terrestrial radio just sucks exponentially more because when you are stuck listening to that, it's the same formats, same Gar DJ voice, same songs...ad infinitum.

The #1 song though that needs to be wiped from radio play is "Welcome to the Machine" by Pink Floyd. I haven't heard it in at least 10 years and it still sets my teeth on edge. For whatever reason from 1992-1999, Z93 ONLY played this and Zeppelin....

Yeah, they have a set block of tunes they break out for a week or two and then you hear some new shit getting played. Definitely don't get many deep tracks, if you want that they've conveniently given us a 'Deep Cuts' channel. ;)

I'd actually be interested in learning how they decided on what music to play on satellite.

I was flipping around on XM yesterday and thinking about how wrong you are about this sentiment: Sure there are plenty of stations that fall under your criteria, but there are so many that don't that you need never even listen to the airplane-y ones unless that's what you want.(and shit, sometimes I just NEED to hear "Dream On")
