A case could be made that there would be no Ramones without Ziggy.

You could make that case, but I doubt you'd believe it. Bowie stole all his rock moves from Warholian NYC, a scene that the Ramones were intrinsically a part of. Bowie simply put his fey musichall spin on true junkie conceptual dirt, and wrapped it in ribbons for the kiddies.

Yep, partially agree. But the same depiction of cleaning "the root" for the kiddie masses could be said of Elvis... and while I mostly hate Elvis I understand that there would be no Stones/Beatles without Elvis though the music is really C. Berry/L.Richard.

NYC is a powerful argument. My guess is there would have been a Ramones w/o Ziggy but no one here on Obner today would ever have heard of them.

Totally. This is one of those votes that gives credence to the concept of the hive, plus gives that alleged hive ammunition to shoot you thumbsucking fuckers down like skeet.

I really love both albums, but I voted Ramones and am pretty shocked this isn't at least closer. Good Bowie album and all, but The Ramones first album pretty much got the entire punk rock ball rolling and if you love or hate punk, that snowball grew and grew and reverberated through music for decades.

This one's over. The following album will move on to the quarterfinals:

David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust

One could definitely argue without Ziggy there would be no Rocky Horror though, although depending on your perspective I suppose that could be a good or a bad thing.
