Almost went with the Wrens just to see some heads explode, but I couldn't not vote for Spoon.

I voted for the Meadowlands, which I think is maybe the only record from the last 15 years that has a place in my top 20 overall. It being bracketed with Girls Can Tell is unfortunate, because GCT is one of a handful of albums that has so much love on this board that the Meadowlands honestly had absolutely no chance.

Had it been pushed through to the final 64 with a different group of albums it easily has enough board support to have potentially coasted to the elite eight.

I think too many albums were nominated that had absolutely no chance, and as the system shook out there's a lot of second place albums that were unforunate seconds. Any chance we could actually do a bracket of 128? :)

Several 2nd place albums will have a chance to still make the tourney. I suspect the Wrens album is one of them.

I think this WAS it's best shot. I think there is already a Spoon backlash since 3 of their albums have already showed up and GCT still won.

But get in line with your argument about the groupings. There have been SEVERAL groups where as many as 3 Obner favorites have been in the same bracket vs some brackets with 4-5 more obscure records. Such is the nature of this I guess. Or OPA's will I suppose.

Also, good job on the person nominating that DJ/Rupture record.

Not even THEY deemed it worthy of a vote.

If there are 64 5-album brackets and all of the winners advance, exactly where do these second place albums come into play?

The 20 second place albums with the best vote percentage will be randomly placed in 4 groups of 5. The winner of each group (4 in total) will then compete one-on-one in a play-in match against the 4 worst seeded albums. Of course, even if they win, they'll be seeded No. 16 and face the No. 1 seed in their respective brackets.
