I think Pitchfork did a damn good job with this, even if it is early. The big question is what is the best song out of their Top 20? You will have four days to listen and vote.

The first and only time I will ever vote for Radiohead. Shows you how crappy this list is. Actually, "Idioteque" is the only Radiohead song I like.

I think Losing My Edge might be the perfect song to represent the 00's, though Idioteque is my favorite on this list.

reeeeeally hard to separate out the "burn out" factor on some of these.

I agree with Cap'n. great song but I am SOOOO fried.

I went with Losing my Edge for the Zeitgeist factor.
that said, "Crazy in Love" is probably my favorite song of the era.

edit: I mentioned zeitgeist before reading the pfork review.
fuck, I am thinking like them!

big ups to DFA for dominating.

The great thing about Pitchfork, as this list proves, is that its unwittingly self mocking.

Went witgh "Ignition (Remix)", because I'm pumped to see the new Trapped in the Closets and/or have been listening to a lot of Kells lately...

I say they're around 50% right with these singles (though not the order) which, these days, is a pretty good average for an online bloggish-indie-magazine-type-thing...

True.
That's why there'll be another 24 of these polls being posted in the coming days.

Or "What You Know" although both are in their top 50 I think.

Went "Hey Ya". I remember "hey fellas, what's cooler than being cool......" being a fucking cultural phenomenon. Every whitey in America knew what that was.

Funny how a lot of those pop songs get a pass but something like Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" doesn't.

But Beyonce and R.Kelly are the jams??

Give me a fucking break and I'm not even really defending Jet.
