I had really low expectations of I Love You Man but it far exceeded them.

Totes m'goats. I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed far more than Hangover with exception that I think Rashida Jones may be the worst actress I've ever seen on anything. At least she sure do have a purty mouth.

see I thought Hangover was much funnier than I Love you man...but buddy comedies appeal to me much more than romantic comedies.

Not recommended.

Did you know that in high school, the attractive athletic popular kids can be self-absorbed and cruel? And that kids from broken homes in small midwestern towns are all artists waiting to be set free in the big city?

HEY!

I happened to stand next to Hannah from that movie while seeing Grizzly Bear at Bonnaroo. Were both even wearing red bandanas!

FUH?

We watched "W" this weekend. While the plot and pacing were a little disjointed, one thing I really liked was the way they made the drinking seem claustrophobic.

The should have focused it a bit more on one or two periods of his life rather than try to do everything. And, this may seem obvious, but I really liked the Younger W. Seemed like a fun guy.

i recently watched casino and tropic thunder for the first times.

both were entertaining. i didn't dislike ben stiller in the latter nearly as much as i usually do. danny mcbride killed me, but i think his one-trick pony is wearing out. and i really have no idea why scorsese, deniro and pesci made casino when goodfellas already exists and is about a hundred times more engaging.

When I saw Casino in the theater, I hated it, as it just seemed like a rehash of Goodfellas. Also, the ending is really just like the movie peters out of steam and just BAM!! its over. After re-watching it about 30 more times I can now say that a movie that is a rehash of Goodfellas with a crappy ending is still better than 99% of all other movies. Plus, I now think Sharon Stone deserved an Oscar for making a character that was so reprehensible.

Thought it was stunning. Brutal and raw, with extraordinary performances from the 2 lead actresses.

Not a movie, but I've been working my way through the first two seasons of Mad Men, so I can catch up with the third on the DVR and it has not disappointed.

I saw Inglourious Basterds last night. It was good - at times VERY good - but all in all I think it may be just a tad overrated. It's definitely worth seeing, and some of the individual performances are phenomenal.

The palpable tension in several key scenes is probably the movie's true strength.

I believe that was the point of the character. But nice try, FT.

& it must be nice to be an indie-rocker &/or indie-rock fan, & only able to laugh at in-jokes & unfunny riffs that us plebes are too dense to get. I mean, The State -- high-fucking-art.

The impeccable comedic touch of the sceneasta suffered a near-fatal blow, though, when I encountered My Nemesis at an opening weekend (!) showing of Talladega Nites. If anything should have been beneath him, it were that -- even if it did have the imprimatur of Apatow. But, no, there he was, & prolly laughing -- & not ironically.

If a Depression-pop playing sceneasta, a midwest coast Decemberists wannabe in mid 19th century prospector's garb, goes to Talladega Nites, then the cover of intellectual & socio-cultural superiority is blown, & no sceneasta is 1% as wise as claimed.

Milwaukee scenesters + Monty + Monty's "nemesis" = the world at large?

Nice try.

All of our scenesters want to & eventually do move on to Williamsburg & Austin, & get accepted with open arms, so I think there's something to my claim.

Or it could just be residual good feeling for coming from the same place as Les Paul & the Violet Femmes.
