nah, I just mean Templesmith has taken for fucking ever to get this last Fell out, much like Cassaday still swears he's working on that last issue of Planetary.

The last issue of Planetary is actually coming soon. I think the recent DC new comic solicitations listed it for October release.

I've heard something like that. Still, it's not like there were like 3 more arcs to explore acter this. This is the final issue. In the time it's taken Cassaday to do this, he's done like 5000 covers and retired.

Books I read monthly:

Marvel:
Daredevil, Incognito, Astonishing X-men, and I plan on reading Hickman's Fantastic Four once he takes it over.

DC:
Batman and Robin, Detective Comics, Wednesday Comics

Vertigo:
Air, Scalped, Northlanders, DMZ

Other:
Doktor Sleepless, Gravel and whatever other mini-series Warren Ellis currently has cooking at Avatar (right now Ignition City and Anna Mercury 2). Still buy the Sword by the Luna brothers, though its sort of predictable and lame. Astonishing Wolfman. Jersey Gods.

wasn't that announced like a year ago? I was gonna mention Secret Warriors, which I like, but I can barely remember who these characters are anymore. Still, I like these creepy HYDRA villains.

How is Jersey Gods? I keep wanting to pick it up because of the nods to Kirby, but end up putting it back.

I'm thinking about hopping on to Ghost Rider for this big Jason Aaron arc that's supposed to be amazing, but I haven't touched that book since I was in 8th grade and I'm kinda wary of just how little it's changed since then.

Hickman did an FF mini-series he co-scripted with Bendis. He takes over for Millar on the main book soon I think.

I've read a little of Aaron's Ghost Rider stuff. I think its a little too campy, almost like Garth Ennis Lite. I'll probably read the Heaven's On Fire thing, though.

I'm sure I've posted what monthly books I read somewhere previously in this thread, and it really hasn't changed much. I'm way behind on everything so my assessments might not really be up-to-date.

Marvel/Icon
New Avengers - what Cotton said. It'll be great if Immonen stays on.
Dark Avengers - maybe. It was fun at first, but it's quickly getting annoying. I like Matt Fraction, but he seems to be spread too thin on MU books these days. His good stories are fewer and farther between. Unless Bendis is going to resume this after the Utopia thing, I dunno.
Fantastic Four - I've enjoyed Millar's run, and I was kinda disappointed in Hickman's miniseries (especially compared to how good Secret Warriors has been). I'll probably stick with it a little while after the change to see how it goes.
Secret Warriors - Yeah. Maybe not as exciting as I thought it would be after the first issue, but it's good. Can't help wishing Cheung did the interior art, not just the covers.
Thor - love Coipel's art, and I feel like it's just been a really solid reinvention.
Astonishing X-Men - I can't resist a Warren Ellis Marvel book even though I should know better by now. Always disappointing. Always.
Incognito - Pretty great. Really need to read Criminal and Sleeper.
Kick-Ass - I don't understand why this book takes so long with a machine like JR Jr. drawing it, but it's been fun.

DC/Vertigo/Wildstorm
Batman & Robin - The only DCU thing at the moment. (Haven't actually read any yet, but it looks/seems great.) Never been a big DC reader, and I've kinda been afraid to start due to lack of time/money. Some of the stuff going on right now sounds cool, though.
Unwritten - Not sure if I'll stick with this, but I picked up the first two issues and haven't yet had the chance to read them. It looks interesting, but the art kind of sucks.
DMZ - still reading this in trades, but I may get caught up eventually (not likely). This series has just continued to exceed all expectations considering that I've never liked anything previous by Brian Wood.
Ex Machina - maybe the best book out there?

Image/other
Walking Dead - still reading trades, may catch up one day. Great, great series.
Mice Templar - Fun, but seemingly on the somewhat generic/predictable side. We'll see.
Fell - I mean, if it still exists.
No Hero/random Warren Ellis mini-series with bad art - I just pick one randomly. No Hero is/was decent. Van Ryp seems like one of the "least bad" artists to work on Ellis's Avatar stuff. Not sure what I'll pick up next.
Astro City - think the last Dark Age book just wrapped up. Is Dark Age over? It's been good, but I'm ready for something new. Consistently great book, anyway.
RASL - This has actually been pretty neat. It seems a little odd reading a more "adult" Jeff Smith book, but I think I really like this.

That's it, I guess.

Just picked up The Marvels Project, first I've read from Brubaker (somehow I've completely missed out on Incognito). The idea behind this seems decent enough, but I have to say I wan't blown away by the first issue at all.

Current reads: Unthinkable, North 40, RASL, Unwritten, Fables, DMZ, Kick-Ass, Ex Machina (Trades), Walking Dead (Torrents, trying to get caught up)...EDIT: Given Cotton's response in regards to Preacher am pulling it down now to see how that wound up (think it ended in the few years I wasn't buying anything), also after giving Herogasm a try and not liking it, have removed it from the current list.

finally picked up some new-er stuff.

i got a couple issue of the boys (30, 31) but not the newest ones. i think i missed 29.

herogasm is pretty good but some of the art is really bad.

some punisher issues.

the art on detective comics is amazing.

read the 2nd issue of blackest night. enjoying it so far.

did old man logan wrap up? i got the one with captain skull on the cover but apparently there's a giant sized special coming out (or has already been)?

caught up on walking dead. kirkman is a sick fuck, and i mean that in the best way possible.

I hate to say it, but both of these titles are just too much for me. I don't know why, really it's no different than a rated R movie, but something there that I just can't get behind. It's unfortunate because there's been times where I've read some Ennis' stuff (Hitman and some of Preacher) and thought it was just brilliant, but for my personal taste, this just pushes it too far.

That new Brubaker thing is okay. The art is phenomenal, but the story is lthat sorta thing where they fetishize the origins of the Marvel U, which I get bored even typing about. The highlight is always the little wings on Namor's feet.

For the most part, I don't like Brubaker's mainstream work (exception being Captain America, although I'm worried about where that is headed). I'd ignore Incognito, not because it's bad, but because it's got a spotty release rate and so far pales in comparison to Sleeper and Criminal. Those books are amazing and prime examples of good storytelling.

I don't know how anyone could read "some" of Preacher.

I liked Blackest Night 2, but it's strange that every imagineable corpse in the DCU is coming to life. I love seeing Deadman, though.

nope. There's one more issue floating around, although I've no idea when we're gonna see it. The regular series has already moved on, I think.

Any idea who is taking over on Daredevil now that Brubaker is done? I thought issue 500 was awesome, but the only preview was for some Dark Reign BS written by Andy Diggle. I've never been a huge fan of his, and I thought someone had said Rucka was going to do Daredevil next.
Anybody know for sure?

I liked the Marvels Project and love Incognito. I can't get into Brubaker's Captain America. Go figure. I think I just don't really like Captain America that much.

I think Diggle's gonna be there for the foreseeable future. I can't imagine Rucka's got too much time to work outside of his DC and indie stuff. I know that he's got at least 1 or 2 more arcs planned on Detective, and there's that third Whiteout book coming out later this year, I think.

I thought the last issue was #72 (or something like that)? It was released out of sequence (#73 came out a week or two before), but I thought it was done. Anyway, I haven't read 70-72 yet so I don't know if the story actually resolved or not.

i read somewhere that there's a giant-sized special issue *supposedly* coming out next month that'll wrap the story up.

no, but he's invented a new villain (which he's done a lot of, lately) that is fucking terrifying. Essentially a guy in a pig mask that performs deformative surgery on his victims. To make it even creepier, he dances around to disco while he does it.

also, even though he was aught and unmasked, the reader has yet to see his face.

i haven't read that issue yet but picked it up the other day.

got the new issue of detective, the last 2 herogasms, and cap reborn.

caught up on dark avengers, mostly because i wanted to see what they do with noh-varr, which wasn't much. and it got pretty boring after fraction took over.

started reading i kill giants at the store but didn't finish it.

Warren Ellis talking about Alan Moore on the phone.

I'm assuming this is very old, but it was cracking me up. "Not everyone wants a magic cave"
