Verne Lundquist needs to call it a career. His fellating of Tebow has reached new heights and has turned him into a mockery.

He has quoted Tebow's scripture twice now.

His call of the Tebow fumble: "An unlikely ending to a great play".

Please, Verne, hang it up.

Let's add Brent Musberger and his, "A 9-4 USC is the best team in college football" color to every game he calls to the list of retirees.

I would support this as well.

OK, I admit it, Harry is right, Pete Carroll is a complete douche bag, but this is pretty damn funny. Too bad the SOB acted like such a whining, hypocritical bastard when it happened to him.

It's a shame UCLA couldn't have initiated a brawl that would have caused the Trojans to be without a ton of players for their bowl game.

While I'd agree about him being an ass for complaining so much when Stanford did a similar thing to him, if UCLA isn't going to allow them to run the clock out by calling timeouts, then I can't blame him for trying to score.

I thought they had already announced that the OC was gonna take the helm when Friedgen stepped aside?

While the more usual thing (after a your opponent's timeout after your QB taking a knee) would be to run or throw for a first down, not fake into the line and throw a bomb... I don't fault the play call. The outrage actually has nothing to do with scoring late while already safely ahead....

... it was Carroll laughing and jumping up and down and acting like he had come from behind to win the national championship. And pointing to his coaches and players which caused them all to jump up and down, taunt the Bruins, stick their tongues out and on and on. Truly there's no reason for this mediocre USC team to behave this way.

There is a deep darkness in Bruin Nation today, and there will be payback in the future. Carroll is a sad, classless, media-whore, cheat... it is only slightly an exaggeration to say that this guy will end up in jail some day.... the story has yet to be told.

Unfortunately for UCLA, athletes have a hard time getting into the university... Cal has gotten at least four blue chip HS players in the last few years , players that were committed to UCLA but didn't have the grades and SATs.... it's the Notre Dame problem too. While we may beat SC in the future, it's going to be hard to regain status as a national power.

Yeah, the excessive celebration was also classless.

I dunno. There's just been a lot of talk lately about Billick. Maybe its just a way for MD's AD to keep the Terps in the news.

Florida v. Texas = *yawn*

One of UCLA's players should have gone up and coldcocked Carroll. Just totally LaGarrette Blounted his ass.

Don't worry, Harry... I'm sure Neuheisel will be keeping a bunk warm for Carroll in that jail of yours.

Your rant would have a lot more validity if Neuheisel was closer to an Hayden Fry than a Kirk Ferentz, on the Sleaz*o*metre.

Ummm, RN lost his job(s) and was boycotted... on probation as it were. PC continues to have the MSM starry-eyed with puff pieces about dying children, housing projects, and aging jazz singers. Your point lacks your usual logic.

I'd like to think that the Titans comeback against Arizona (Vince Young over Matt Leinart yet again) was, in part, karmic payback for Carroll's classlessness last night. :-)

Oh, and I'm so happy for Vince Young... good for him!!!

I have been tasting the tears of disappointment from the Techies today and they are SALTY.

Fucking sweet ass win that put a high note on an otherwise forgettable season.

I've always said that I love to beat Florida more than any other team but I hate to LOSE to Tech more than any other team.

I'm sure the ACC committee is hating life right now. I predict a half empty stadium for that game.

Yeah, if there was any year that they could hope to not look like one of the weak sisters of the BCS system this was it, and they still blew it. Hell, the normally laughed at Big Least looks stout compared to the ACC. No offense to UGA, but I was hoping Tech fell a bit further down the polls this week due to that game.

That said, the Big 12 will be a huge laughing stock if Nebraska wins this week, but at least I can enjoy watching them play in the Fiesta Bowl instead of the Holiday Bowl.

Nebraska is currently a 16.5 dog to the Longhorns, but three of the last four meetings between the teams has been decided by 3pts or less, and the Huskers were unranked in two of those meetings.

I am now a huge Clemson Tiger fan and will be pulling for them to get redemption.

Tech fans have been beating their chests all year around here and have been dreaming of BCS Bowls and National Championships. To have that all taken away in the span of 8 days would be just too perfect.

Also, it would be yet another example of why the current BCS system is utter shite. You'd have an 8-4 team playing in the Orange Bowl. Ridiculous.
