It's actually not bad, kinda reminds of 80s Zevon, musically at least.

Quote:
"Mydland recorded and mastered a solo album, but it was never released. Intended for this album were 'Tons Of Steel' with Monty Byron on guitar, 'Maybe You Know , 'Nobody's', 'Long Way To Go', and 'Dreams'.

Possibly the sessions discussed with Betty Cantor-Jackson in 'The DeadHeads Taping Compendium Vol 2'.

TDHTC: 'You recorded music for a Brent Mydland solo album that was never released, correct?'

Cantor-Jackson: 'Yeah, we worked on it for a year, between everything else. Phil used to come into the studio every night and sit down and listen with a big grin on his face. He loved it. That was great stuff. It's the best of Brent and the best of me. Someday I'd really like to put it out. You can definitely hang out inside those mixes'"

dick's picks 12
what a fucking awesome set! this may be one of the only well assembled piecemeal dick's picks in the whole series. very very well selected. the 6/28/74 show stacks up against the 6/26 show once i realized that this is the set that travels from sugar magnolia to 'sunshine daydream', with some serious shit sandwiched in between - to lay me down, and weather report suite jam, to be sure. i heard on xm the other day that this was the first show they did that with sugar mags.
serious show.

I think I'd actually like a hard copy of Volume 35.

I only made it through the first two discs today but this is really fucking excellent

The "Failchaux Tapes" indeed.

And it's got a great backstory to boot. Discs 3 and 4 are up there with the best we've heard.

i finally got around to listening to this, and man it's really really good.

I listened to a really horrible 90s show today, just about every member of the band was firing on no cylinders.

Was it '93? I tuned in to the Sirius channel on the weekend and heard a bit of that show. Not great.

while the videography isn't really all that special, it's worth it if just to see jerry in pigtails.

Watched this late Friday night and yeah, the video quality is kind of atrocious but Jerry really is rocking the pigtails. Egad.

Gar, I think we should do Terrapin tomorrow.

Brown Eyed Women is my favorite Dead song, and a possible hot shot debut for best song ever.

Man, I was gonna bump this tonight as well -- we got through all those discs with only 2 Althea's?

Also - I listened to that dreadful Dead channel most of the way from Bama to Texas - it seems to be heavily jam focused.

on the beach in the sunshine for two weeks, and all i still wanna listen to is the dead, basically. plus i'd be reading "living with the dead" if i didn't have zappa and agassi bios to get thru.

the dead channel is best when they play concert excerpts. today in dead history, and the full concerts are best. i think at 7am 11am 12pm 7pm 9pm...
