Derris have you seen my 77 epiphone scroll? Looks just like this one...

After a fret job (bout $100) it is an SG-shredding monster. It has that wonderful dirty 70's skanky humbucker sound, absolutely 100% AC/DC approved. And you can split the coils to get single coil tones, and it's uncommon, and looks the business in a kooky sorta way. 24 frets, low action, and just demands that you do unspeakable, dirty shit with it.

You ever think about goin' used?

Sure. You actually pm'ed me one for sale on ebay but it was sold before I could even think about it.

They're increasingly rare these days right?

There aren't any on ebay currently. What do they run?

I think they sell around $500 in good shape, if/when. I got mine from Mike Guthrie in athens way back when his shop was struggling to make rent. Think I paid $300 for it - the price tag is in the case still, buried under my stairs.

Another one to look for is the Gibson "The Paul" from 77-80, specifically the walnut bodied ones, preferably unmolested. My buddy Lowe's older brother got one new, so I've played that thing for countless hours over the years, and I have a standing offer to purchase it at full market value should he ever sell it, which he won't. Low action, better weight than a Les Paul, stays in tune ridiculously well, just a solid old collectible workhorse with a great r&r sound. There are 2 on ebay now, fwiw. If they don't do it for you I would understand... looks like an end table.

I think you should man up and pull the trigger on this beauty:

Epiphone USA Promotional Guitar, 1982, made in the USA of course - Kalamazoo Mich.

I'm 1/4 serious. Maybe even 2/3.

That guitar reminds me, Galaxy Music is going out of business. For good this time.

Oh shit, no! I don't guess it's been like it was in Teh Heyday for awhile now. I think I went to the "new" location once in like, '99? 2000? Something like that. It was just ok. No Hee Haw peavey steel amps, no Johhny Pink Shirt working backroom deals.

Yeah, they actually moved again a couple years ago up 400 near the Dawsonville outlet mall. I went in once and it was...too nice.

Dawsonville...? Jesus fuckme christ that's far away. What was wrong with Memorial Drive in Stone Mtn?

Galaxy and "nice" is supposed to be like oil and water. That place had stains on the floor. You could go in there, and if you knew what you were doing, make out like a bandit on some old used shit. Those places are hard to come by now.

What wasn't wrong with it? Plus they had actually been in Snellville for at least the past ten years or so. I suspected the guy rhat ran the place may have moved to that part of the world and thought he could make it work closer to home.

I'm pretty sure they will still have an online/ebay presence as well but a store like that has a hard time surviving these days--I mean, I tried to get them to buy some stuff back before I was really doing the ebay thing and they offered me next to nothing, even in trade...when I got around to ebaying it, I made good money and never looked back.
