Hey guys,

Not trying to come back from lurking just because I want something ... but I will anyways. For any of you who might be coming to SXSW and don't want to crash on my floor in a sleeping bag (which is an option), my lady is putting her apartment up for rent from Thursday, March 18 through Sunday the 21st (or longer if needed).

Efficiency, walking distance (a few blocks East of I-35) from downtown and a ton of East Side venues, gas stove, fridge, bathroom with shower . . . could comfortably fit up to three people - pm me (or call me if you still have my number) if you want photos or more details. She's looking for $150/night obo.

... and my floor is available for free, but it's further from the action and dirtier than milady's.

Is $150/night the going rate for something close to the action? Sweet fancy Christ. I had no idea. Best of luck in her capitalistic endeavors.

Also, "Hi Colin!"

I would say you'd be lucky to find a downtown hotel at that price or any cheaper, so split a few ways this is a great deal. I don't know, if there's a last minute ticket for me to Austin, I would take you up on her.

The board seems to be lacking its Colin-ness lately with prolonged absences of Chuck D and Sketchy.

Jesus Christ...this is like kind of genius but kind of cruel too. I mean I'm sure it's cheaper than a hotel but isn't that like a month's rent for just four nights?

Either way, I'll be down there again this year.

"walkable, gas stove, fridge, bathroom with shower . . . could comfortably fit up to three people"

WELL worth the expense.
Otherwise, you will not eat in Austin, you will drink too much, get heat stroke, and die, or miss a million shitty bands playing simultaneously.

Yeah, if 3 people share it then its not bad...plus, presumably more people could sleep on the floor, so its a deal.

Is SXSW regulating hotels? Thought I heard something about that.

One of these years I'll get down there.

That's a fucking bargain. Bring food and cook breakfast / lunches for yourselves. Damn.

yeah, that's a good deal. unless you're ok with hotel-crashing, couch surfing and trailer sleeping for four straight days in the heat. in which case, you're probably one of the bands and can't afford the deal anyway

Pretty sure that's the way its gone ever since I've been going down last few years. Downtown hotels are reserved for artists, making it tough for anyone else to find much else downtown, but all is reserved through SXSW Housing if you're industry.

Gotcha. David Lowery was bitching about it at some point. Guess CVB is gonna play and they wanted $100 per song sponsored to pay for lodgings, etc.

how is it cruel? Sounds dirt cheap to me, even if you're just getting the place yourself. with 3 people it's almost laughable to even remember to pay for it.
