Seriously dude, even the stories that I was familiar with (like the famous "piss wands" episode at Danceteria in NYC) are amazing. Gibby and Paul=biggest ghouls ever.

I might need to check this out.

I am almost done with Game Change, and deep enough into The Death of The President 1963 to probably finish that as well.

Yeah, its overall a good read and I think you'd like it--it's pretty light reading as well which is fine by me since next up in my pile to read is another Halberstam monstrosity...

It's good. Ralph gives a straight man account of his and Hunter's adventures. It gives some good insight into the man. Unfortunately Ralph Steadman is a much better artist than writer, so only fans of Hunter need read it.

Translation - like all HST cash ins, its unreadable, rehashes with zero new revelations.

I've been stuck on Moby Dick forever. I never liked Melville and this one isn't much better so far.

I need to read this, and has been on my pile for a year. Also, considering the toaster thread, this is pretty funny.

Was looking for something lighter for beach reading and picked up

it had some decent writing in parts but overall i don't recommend. it certainly filled the light easy beach reading need though.

I was reading two old 'friends'. A book of Orwell's journalism and 'Uncle Dynamite' by P. G. Wodehouse.

However I agreed to read the draft of a novel a friend of mine (actual) is writing so that's my book right now. I wish I'd asked how long it was before agreeing....

The search function works.

Edit: Actually, I just merged the two threads. Mod powers activate!

Moby Dick put me off novels for about 4 years.

Have you heard "The Gonzo Tapes"? I didn't even know they were out but saw them at a record store the other day. I listened to a couple excerpts on Amazon, probably be fun to listen to. I might pick them up.

Dear god, that looks hideous/awesome. If you decide to buy it, ysiplzthx.

Fucking HST Estate is right up there with the Grateful Dead and the Tupac people in terms of constantly putting "fresh" product on the street.

Incidentally I'm still reading this though I've taken the last several days off--I have to admit, the war in the former Yugoslavia (the subject of most of this book) is almost too fucking depressing for words.
