Pete Doherty arrested in Berlin

Pete Doherty has reportedly been arrested in Berlin.

The singer, who has just finished a solo tour of Germany, is said to have thrown a pint glass at a car, breaking the back window.

German news site Thelocal.de quotes daily paper Bild as reporting that Doherty was arrested shortly before 7am on Saturday morning (December 5) in the Kreuzberg district of the city, where he had been drinking with two friends.

"The three of them had just come from Wiener Straße. There they'd been tossed out of a bar," a bartender from the Trinkteufel club told Bild. "I almost threw Pete out [of Trinkteufel] too. He was drinking shots and constantly asking about cocaine."

Doherty is said to have thrown a pint glass out of the bar window, hitting a Ford Fiesta in the street, after which a passer-by called police. He was held in custody for three hours, during which time he was booked for property damage.

Only thing surprising in that story is that Germans can say "Wiener Straße" and "der Trinkteufel" with a straight face. And even that isn't very surprising.

this isn't a negative imo. Pete throwing pint glasses at cars is just another notch in the destructive belt of rock n roll.

I agree with this, but at the same time am somewhat surprised that Pete's not dead yet, and would like for him to get his act together so he can continue making music. My favorite songwriter of the decade, too bad he's the junkie of the decade too.

Interesting? Maybe the first 3 times he was arrested or chronicled for some kind of stupid, intoxicated debauchery. He's been fucking boring for a loooong, looong time. Just kind of sad and pathetic now, really. Same with Winehouse.

NEW YORK (CBS) Pete Doherty, the rock singer known for his relationship with Kate Moss, has been arrested on suspicion of supplying the drugs that killed society heiress Robin Whitehead.

Whitehead had been working on a documentary about Doherty's drug-addicted lifestyle and his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, said the Daily Mail.

The 27-year-old Whitehead died of a suspected overdose on January 24. Her body was found by paramedics in an East London flat rented by Doherty's close friend Pete Wolfe. The website said Whitehead had developed a close friendship with Doherty and was a "superfan."

I think that he's one of the best songwriters around. For someone with that much talent I say act however the fuck you want. I am surprised that the jails haven't keep him in longer, though.

The band, with drummer Gary Powell standing in the wings, kicked off with a cover of old standard 'Georgia On My Mind', seaguing the song into 'The Good Old Days' from The Libertines' debut album 'Up The Bracket'.

Doherty and Barat shared vocals - as well as sly winks and jokes - throughout the set, with Hassall also chipping in from time to time. Playing a range of tracks from their career, the band aired the likes of 'Death On The Stairs', 'France' and 'Can't Stand Me Now'.

Band friend 'Rabbi' John Connor - a regular at early Libertines gigs - also joined them for a run through of sea shanty 'Sally Brown'.

After playing a short segment of the solo from 'Time For Heroes', Barat instructed the audience he was "going for a piss", and with that, the rest of his bandmates decided to finish the gig.
