I Can definitely say that AT&T has pretty shite coverage in rural Alabama, and that I am having battery issues with my phone. But those issues don't outweigh the ease of use/compatability I was dealing with.

I'm surprised that one hurt your feelings - I thought you were wearing that mantle proudly. Seriously, I apologize.

guys, based on my first hand experience (i have had att and tmo simultaneously for a long time now), T-mobile has far better coverage than att. this is metro los angeles (beverly hills/west hollywood/downtown, mostly). everyone rips tmo on coverage, but it's been consistently better for a while now. i don't drop nearly as many calls, and my 3G is better on tmo.

i'm sure this is different in different locales, but tmo is great in some locations. if they get HSPA+ up soon, i'll be super happy (i have heard that HSPA+ 3 to 5 times as fast as current tmo 3G). the issue is that they don't get the best phones. the evo is good enough that i am tempted to bail. i guess i'll evaluate when it's released, and try to figure out how good the 4G coverage is at that point.

"Bully"

Cap'n is like an annoying gnat that you need to swat away from time to time. Contributes nothing, just kind of exists. Quite sad really.

also, i read that HSPA+ is going to be 10 times faster than Sprint's 4G.

god damn i want that EVO.

yes, the EVO is far better.... 4.3" screen, 8MP camera, more storage, front facing camera, hdmi out, kickstand (small value but cool nonetheless), bigger battery.

here's a chart that compares features:

http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/23/htc- ... d-field-o/

i am dying for this phone, but maybe there will be a nexus 2 or something that will use tmo that will convince me to stay. i guess the sprint pricing is an issue too. their everything plan is cheaper than tmo i think and comes with tv.

ATT really should give these away for free.

"Hey, look how cool my iPhone is. And hey, check this thingamujog out. It helps me use my iPhone."

How insulting to iPhone users that they're making them pay for this.

I wonder if I got one of these, would my neighbor be able to use it? How far does the signal reach? If they sent these around for free, but you had to accept traffic from other AT+T customers that would be one thing, but if you paid for it and could lock others out from using it, that might be worth it.

I agree Dale, that IS insulting.

But it's like Verizon, who's response when I told them that I got zero bars at my house was basically "well go down the street to use your phone". Tone deaf assholes. And five years later, anybody with Verizon still can't get out at my house.

AT+T told me to either go to the window to make calls, or get a bluetooth and leave my phone outside.

T-Mobile built a tower across the street from me so now I'm golden.

yeah, me too. but having lived with the aforementioned verizon gap for two years when I was with them, I can definitely appreciate the frustration of those who don't.
