Mowery You know, I don't follow college B-ball that much these days, but Tom Izzo's Mich State Spartans making the Great 8 (Elite 8 is newfangled corporate speak) 7 out of the last 10 years seems pretty amazing.

I can't believe I am in 2nd at this point, and am trying to figure out how I can possibly win it all. I might have a slim chance if both K-State and West Virginia make it to the final four, but Paper might still edge me out.
The Buckeye loss helped me a bunch, and if Paper, Bob or any of the folks near me take it, I will still be happy.
I've got nothing against Sketch or Marco, but I'd rather send a CD to someone else this year.

That scenerio generator is great. Not sure I tried all the permutations, but it does look like if KSU and WVU both make the final 4 you do win no matter what else happens---you could have it wrapped up by the end of tonight.

My only winning scenerio is if KSU loses and both WVU and Baylor win---wouldn't want to take those odds.

Mine is the same, except I need Duke to beat Baylor...not good odds for either of us.

This is the worst job I've done picking a bracket in my entire life.

I only have Kentucky left in the elite 8. (I have them winning it though)

According to the Yahoo! Scenario Generator, the only way for me to win it is if both UK and Puke make the Final 4, then UK loses the final to either Butler, Tennessee or Michigan State.

Man, I HATE Bruce Pearl. The guy's never met a live camera that he didn't like and I think the national media like him because he gives good interview. But, when the camera is off I've read that he is the king of the "don't you know who I am" move. Morally bankrupt douche who'd push his mother into oncoming traffic to get to a big recruit. It's no wonder he fits right in at UT......where integrity goes to die.


Best Pearl story ever:

He got divorced from his wife of over 25 years about 3 years ago amid rumors of infidelity. As a nice FUCK YOU to him, his ex-wife took his money and opened a hair and nail salon in the heart of Knoxville for all to see. She named it Alimony's.

Also, it should be noted that Gus Johnson may be my new favorite announcer.

After the K State/Xavier double OT game, I said to FemDerris that the announcer put that game over the top as far as making it memorable. I don't think I've said that about an announcer in years.

I actually waited for him to give his name because I didn't know who it was.

Wow Derris, you're at least five years behind the curve on Gus Johnson, but hey, better late than never. Dude can go over the top, but when the situation merits it, he's the best at what he does be it football or hoops.

Johnson's K State announcing job was the best since Bobby Heenan's call of Ric Flair winning the Royal Rumble/WWF title in 199-whatever. Seriously. The Brain was on fire that night.

And while I'm obviously pulling with all my might for the Spartans, if they fall today I'm switching to praying for a Butler/Baylor title game so CBS can get a shit sandwich in the ratings as karma for broadcasting less than 10 minutes total of the MSU/UNI regional semifinal. One more reason why Duke sucks.

Well, for me it's one of things where I really only notice them if they suck. Most are so run of the mill vanilla which is good enough serve the game I guess.

It's pretty rare for someone to A) provide excitement and B) to give the moment a certain poetic gravitas without sound cheesy. Tough thing to pull off.
