This is amazingly good. I listened to it on repeat all day. Just what I needed on a moderately shitty day.

Holy fuck, this Sharon Jones is good. Nice improvement over the (slightly uneven) last one.

Agreed. They're playing a show in the botanical garden here and I'm thinking of taking my daughter to it as a dance party.

Yeah, I thought the last one was an album people felt they were supposed to like, rather than actually being good.

I'll let the boat leave the harbor without me on this one.

Haven't heard a note of it, Dale. I'll be playing it at tomorrow at 7am MST.

That's about what I expected. I didn't think he would magically be able to produce a decent solo record.

I like some of the Slash's Snakepit stuff; 'Beggars and Hanger Ons' is great. There's a few more decent songs over those two albums.

'Paradise City' is an abomination. I can't understand why he would bother. It makes Clapton's unplugged 'Layla' sound like the real thing.

I'll be grabbing this tomorrow. I wasn't a Wallflowers fan, but this is great. If you want a preview, he did an NPR Tiny Desk Concert with Neko Case (who looks like she just got out of bed) and Kelly Hogan.

so far, it sounds good, though. i'm working and really haven't noticed much neko. to wit, i haven't noticed jakob or much about this record, and so i like that it's understated (on first listen).

listened to that growing record on the highway yesterday. kinda built out of stock effects, but i like that they're trying to get out of the ambient rut and unto beat-heavy even soca territory(?).

I got around to listening to that Rufus Wainwright yesterday, or tried to- I made it through 2 songs. I didn't get it.

Oh man, I had Band Of Gypsies on vinyl in high school and I didn't even own a record player. I dug that shit... haven't heard it in ages.

I'm pretty sure this record was my gateway drug.

I bought it on a Band field trip to some other town. Mom sent me with $10 for lunch, and we went to a record store straight off the bus, and I found this on vinyl and decided lunch was less important.
