Women's gymnastics? Seriously? That's shit I won't even delve into, and Nebraska had an all-around champion in 2003 that I knew during my grad school days.
Baylor won a Women's hoop title in this decade, and didn't even sniff a Pac-10 bid due to being a Baptist school, and OU had a title appearance in that sport last year.
Also Texas Volleyball has been on par with Stanford and Washington lately, Utah not so much.

Dude. You're the one who brought up women's athletics in this debate in the first place. And like you have now pointed out, you're also the one that regales us with daily updates on the Husker Women's Volleyball tournament results--NTTAWWT. I follow UW volleyball and softball to some degree as well---there's no shame in having school pride in any sport.

And it's official--Utah accepted the P12 invite. I think I'm going to buy bball season tickets now. :drink:

Damn. Just saw this. First thing these conferences have to do is fucking change their names. It's beyond ridiculous to stick with Big-12, Big-10, and Pac-10 at this point and just plain confusing.

Pac 10 should just go to Pacific Conference or something and the others should do something similar. Take the number out of the title altogether.

The Pac "insert # of teams currently in the conference here" conference has actually been pretty good about doing this over the years. Can't say that for the Big 10 and 12---who was arguing their academic prowess? ;)

Big 8 equaled Eight teams
Big 12 equals Twelve teams, and now down to 10
Big Ten equals We have had 11 teams since 1990, and now have 12
The Big Ten is only one that kept their traditional name long after a change in actual numbers.
I think it should be the Left Coast conference, Big North and the Big 12 should retake the SWC name.
Pacific works fine too, despite the fact four member schools are now nowhere near the Ocean.

What's this "we" shit? You've been in the conference all of 5 minutes.

Five days to be precise, but yeah I should refrain from it until after this Football season.

Rumor is that Pac 10 officials read THIS HERE BOARD and our discussion swayed them to invite Utah.

Or something.

Utah is a top 35 TV market, they travel well, and will be competitive immediately. I like the choice to get to 12 given the face plant they did with the remaining Big 12 schools.

BYU will never be on the radar for the Pac 10 given it's mormonosity.

Yep, the same reason they wouldn't even touch Baylor while trying to get the rest of the Big 12 South to join up.
What's the deal with all the T Boone Pickens animosity toward Nebraska? It made me laugh when he literally tried to cut a wrestling promo on the Huskers and Mizzou.
Granted they've won three out of four against Nebraska and two straight in Stillwater, so he might get to gloat again come late October, but those three wins account for three/fifths of their win total against Nebraska all-time.
It's nice that most of our billionaires don't involve themselves directly in collegiate sports, and stick to forms of professional baseball.

I think to add complete fucking confusion, The "new" Big Ten +2 should rebrand as The Big 12 and the "new" Big 12 -2 should rebrand as The Big Ten.

Basically, a wife swap.

Best idea I've heard yet was to rename the Big 12 the "Great Plains" and the Big 10 the "Great Lakes."

A more accurate new name for the Big 12 would be "Texas and Their Bitches".

How did I miss this entire thread?

HasTexas FAIL & M made it into the SEC? If so, someone needs to be fired. Makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

Since when did anyone in Texas or Oklahoma want to be linked with farming and the great plains?
I'd actually like those names for divisions in the Big Ten rather than West/East if the more agrarian states like Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin get lumped together
