who needs to carry around that much music? i've come to realize that there is almost no point in having more than maybe 5-10 gigs of music in an ipod/iphone whatever.

Agreed (except in Daves case regarding gig). I used to have a 20gig ipod. When I bought it, all I was thinking was "Damn I wish I could get the 30 gig (or the 64 or the 128), cause I want ALL my music with me ALL the time". Wrong. Too much music is a bad thing IMO. I dedicate about 5 gigs to music on my iphone, and for me, that is the perfect amount.

Reason #1 too much music sucks. Hmmm, what do I wanna listen to? Let me just sit down here and look through my library, shouldn't take me but 25 minutes tops.

Reason #2 too much music sucks. I dunno what I wanna listen to, I'll just put on shuffle. Play....skip song.... skip song... skip song... ok this one's good.... skip song... skip song... etc etc.

Just my opinion, but when it comes to music, I think quality over quantity is definitely the way to go.

yeah guys, i'd rather have more of my music collection on my ipod than less of it.

when i want to listen to something, i listen to it, not go "damn, i wish i had that on here."

just saying.

I remember posting about my 1,000 song mix that I carry around on my player. I got laughed at for wasting time, but I'm always happy listening to my favorite 6 gigs of music on shuffle. (It has since grown to 1,100 songs and I throw in some of my favorite or new discs to add into the shuffle.)

So this comes out tomorrow (or today if you get it in the mail early). I really want one but I still have a year on my contract, so I'm just using my 3G for now. I jailbroke to multitask and do wallpapers, but wallpapers really really slow it down. iOS 4 is pretty sweet though.

i've been patiently waiting for the iPhone to catch up, and they finally have, and even improved on a few things. the device itself is amazing, my only worry is the network.

honestly, if i could get the iPhone 4 device with the Android Froyo OS, that'd be incredible.

The moods of parenthood. I have 3 moods: tired, sleepy, exhausted. I'm actually too tired to ever have any other mood these days.

the tyranny of choice. the more choices you have, the less satisfied you are with the one you make.

So opportunity cost doesn't apply at the psychological level?

As with all new gadgets, I'ma give this some time to let the kinks get worked out. I'm still perfectly satisfied with my 3G.

I already found a bug in the 4.0 update: I switch the "Auto Lock" to "Never" when I'm going to be in the car for a long time and it keeps switching back to "1 minute" and won't stay illuminated.

I'll agree with this to a point...I have a 60gig ipod, and despite how much I like a song that comes on during shuffle, my curiosity to see what will come up next usually winds up taking precedent to the song I should have been currently enjoying...

At the same time though, I get really pissed off when I get in the mood for something and I don't have it with me...The bigger capacity units have spoiled me...I'd rather have more choices...
