Joe Strummer & the Mescelaros: Streetcore

As much I I loved the Clash, Joe Strummer solo records or records with his band the Mesceleros have often fallen a bit flat for me. However, this posthumously released disc was a real highlight for me. Kicks off with the catchiest straight ahead rocker he recorded since his Clash days with Coma girl. Lots of the usual reggae influences all over it, including a cover of Redemption Song. just damn fine shit. Now, can someone dig through the vaults and release the stuff he recorded with the Latino Rockabilly War beyond a handful of songs on the Permanent Record soundtrack?

I like it. Still deciding how much.

Initially I thought it was awesome, but now I don't know. It reminds me of Ween in some ways.

2 hour ipod playlist I made a while back to play in my favorite watering hole, since their music is the only thing I don't like about the place.

The Batusis

Sylvain Sylvain, Cheetah Chrome. Yeah, they got a new group together and this 4-song EP rips. Oh yeah, also features drummer Thommy Price and bassist Enzo Penizzotto from Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. This shit is good. And, I'm gonna go see 'em Friday night.
