is it just me or do we have a week year for new outstanding metal releases? only thing I remember was this high on fire, but I find that kind of bland...

The Nachtmystium album is just monumental and awesome. Probably my favorite record this year.

I would second Watain's Lawless Darkness as well. Rotting Christ's Aealo is awesome, though maybe not quite as terrific as Theogonia. I really liked High on Fire's last album, too, though they've also done better work in the past.

Off the top of my head I can think of good-to-decent albums from Laethora, Tryptikon, Dark Tranquility, and Howl. Also, not "exactly" metal, but the new
Daughters and Dillinger Escape Plan albums are both pretty excellent.

I never felt Nachtmystium. actually it bores me. to much blast beats and not enough clear (not clean) guitar sound.

right now I'm spinning Howl, that may be nice through head phones.

ha, the interment album is pretty good. nice after work buzz right now... the drumming is a bit too much in the foreground for me but they rock.
