We've had ok luck, both when Femgar moved from ATL, and when we moved from our rental to our current crib, but I know what you mean -- everything you own is in the hands of a crew of people who do things like label the box for your computer "COMPUGER" - that actually happened to my dad.

If I could get a firearm through security, this airport would be rid of any and everyone wearing elastic-waist "casual" pants. People, do you have NO shame?

I have a lot of friends whose parents worked for airlines. They all say the better dressed you are, the better chance you have of getting an upgrade, free or paid for. So, I always wear at least a sport coat (even if I do wear flip flops).

I have a sinking feeling that the HUGE woman with the leopard skin spandex sitting across from me in this waiting area will end up next to me on the plane all the way to Reagan. And the plane is a fucking RJ. And I'm getting nauseous from her perfume from even 10 feet away. And the perfume probably is trying to mask the fact that she's too obese to have fit in a shower stall any time this decade. I should really start knocking over liquor stores.

i think the secret to free upgrades is having a friend working the counter or going back in time to when airlines didn't care.

I deal with movers virtually every day of my life and can confirm that they are all scum--even the ones I like personally (and who I regularly recommend to my clients) are subhuman filth.

Pretty much. I was lucky on my move from MI when I went w/ Mayflower (who farmed out to a distro company, who... you get the idea) and the end company I got did a fine job. And truth be told it was cheaper than I had expected. But the whole process is nerve-wracking no matter what. It's just, my shit is "my shit" and all that. But I've had three friends rave about a local company that has a discount through my new complex, so I think we going with that. 34 more days...

it's worked both ways. i tend to try when checking in, but if you get turned down there, try at least 30 mins before boarding.

i'm not exaggerating when i say this

right now, opening the door to go outside is almost the identical sensation you feel when opening a fully-heated oven door

you get that rush of hot, hot air that just punches you right in the face

i grew up in this kind of heat, but it never used to affect me as a teen

of course, back in those days, i also didn't have TEH FAAAAAAAAAT

It's another level of hot right now, and yeah, I used to lay sod out, mow lawns and all other sorts of shit that I would pass out just thinking about doing on a day like today. BRUTAL.

Uhhh...no blankies on airplanes unless yr in 1st/Business- I was flying US Scareways, and I don't have any pull with them to get me in the front of the plane. For that matter, RJ's don't HAVE any front of the plane. On the plus side, I had an empty seat next to me, and Big Uns ended up in a window seat next to an equally massive white redneck. I suspect race relations have been set back 40 years. Or they may be in a Motel 6 in Arlington right now for all I know.

And for the first time in a very long, long time, I was scared shitless on the approach to Burlington, at least the FIRST approach, which got rejected. Bloody hell, that was probably the second worst episode I've had on a plane ever, and the #1 sent several people to the hospital.
