JENNIFER GENTLE
Italian psych-pop duo Marco Fasolo and Alessio Gastaldello celebrate their first US release "Valende" - out now on Sub Pop Records.

"Valende proves Piper at the Gates of Dawn-era Floyd to be just one influence among many, and the rapturous melting pot of their sound also incorporates Joe Meek-inspired sci-fi daffiness, the adventurous instrumental textures of Nino Rota's film music, as well as tender-hearted loner-folk. And it'sall combined with enough sheer homespun oddity that Jennifer Gentle's unique sound has even managed to awe the enlightened likes of the Sun City Girls and Acid Mothers Temple (whose Kawabata Makato has toured and cut a live radio session with the duo.)" - Pitchfork www.subpop.com

Saturday - April 16th 4pm
Black Mountain

Black Mountain will be performing live in support of their new self-titled album - out now on Jagjaguwar!

Their debut self-titled record, like a space probe built of erector set parts and transmitting secret and arcane messages to earth by string, charts territories unknown yet remains grounded by the roots of classic rock and roll. It is easy to discern these roots: Black Sabbath, the Velvet Underground, the Rolling Stones, Animals-era Pink Floyd, Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin and Can. Principal songwriter Stephen McBeans vocals are a smoother, bluesier amalgam of the voices of Neil Young, Mick Jagger and perhaps a James Brown loaded on cough syrup. And when Amber Webbers voice joins Stephens, the combination brings to mind the potency and chemistry of Richard and Linda Thompson singing together on Shoot Out The Lights, or of Meat Loaf and Ellen Foley howling together on Bat Out Of Hell.

Friday - April 22nd 6pm
Gary Wilson

Gary Wilson will be performing live at Amoeba Music in support of his new album Mary Had Brown Hair out now on Stones Throw Records.

Gary Wilson emerged from the New York DIY movement with his 1977 proto-New Wave masterpiece You Think You Really Know Me, an extraordinary record which has been known to suck unprepared new listeners in like a drug and never let go. Shortly after its limited release its creator simply vanished.

In the 25-year wake before he was found again, his small-town opus had spread by word-of-mouth and indie radio to inspire a whole new generation of musicians and producers with his bizarre songs and personal musical vision.

The re-release of You Think You Really Know Me in 2002 won him accolades in The New York Times and culminated in sold-out shows in New York and Los Angeles. Gary Wilson has continued making music in the years following his "disappearance." His music continues to chronicle his obsessions and angst that his followers would expect from him. His songs have been compared to everything from Prince to Talking Heads–bursting with electro-funk, synth rock, lounge, soul, and avant-garde jazz. And yet nothing has been released until now with his a new album, Mary Had Brown Hair on Stones Throw.

Why must you spite me?
I'd go to about 60% of those in-stores...

Especially curious to see Black Mountain.
