I think you will see one protected cross division rivalry game a la the new Big Ten set up, but I don't think you will see USC and UCLA playing both Cal and Stanford every single year.
I fully understand why the northern schools are adamant about having at least two games against California schools each year, recruiting blue chip players in California is a necessity for those programs and they have a longer history with the conference than the Arizona schools and most of the California schools thanks to the old PCC.

They could do two protected rivalry games...the SEC started out that way and switched to only one later. The games that were lost:

Auburn/Florida
UGA/Ole Miss
Bammer/Vandy
Arkansas/Tennessee
Miss. State/South Carolina
LSU/Kentucky

While these were protected:

Bammer/Tennessee
UGA/Auburn
LSU/Florida
Miss. State/Kentucky
South Carolina/Arkansas
Ole Miss/Vandy

I think there are games on both of those list that should have been protected, and then there are those that don't really have widespread appeal.
I just don't think you can guarantee the California schools their "weekender" games year in and year out, and then completely fuck over the Oregon and Washington schools every two years. It is the sort of move that will weakens the conference in the long haul.
The nationally known rivalries seem to be protected by the current set-up, so I think it is wise for schools like USC to simply accept it and not have their AD's complain that it is merely a money move.

You still get USC vs UCLA, Stanford vs Cal, The Civil War, The Apple Cup, Arizona vs Arizona State year in and year out, and will not be North Division heavy for the immediate future with Utah added into the South Division.

The sellout streak at Sanford Stadium nearly came to an end today, but the last ticket was sold with forty five minutes to before game time.
I'm not sure how devastating the end of a 61 game sell out streak would have been for UGA, but had the record Husker sellout streak ended during Callahan, I'm not sure he would still be alive today.

For purely selfish reasons I was hoping Utah would end up in the same division as Washington so I could see UW play more often in SLC. As far as it is set up, I think it seems fair, allowing all the other teams to play in Cali every season.

I would've preferred the "zipper" divisions in which they split each of the natural rivals into separate divisions but had protected games in which they still played each other every season guaranteed. This would have kept a So Cal and No Cal team in each division.

Nebraska is simply getting smoked in this game. It reminds me of the game against Texas Tech last season, and is eerily reminiscent of the 1987 Game of the Century II versus OU.
The Huskers just can't handle hype in big games against teams that tend to have their number. Everytime the Huskers seemed to be due for a victory against the Sooners, they would play uninspired, mistake prone football against OU and end up with another disheartening loss.
I don't think halftime adjustments will lead to a major comeback, but they could make this game another one of those close but no cigar games.
Hopefully the Huskers can build off this game and still finish strong.

Take out Sooners and put in Gators and you have Uga v Florida for the past 20 years. Sux.

The Dawgs have at least been able to beat the Gators twice in the past ten years.
Nebraska has an O fer going against Texas, and some of the shittiest Husker teams have come ever so close to beating the Longhorns this decade, while some of the best have played their worst game of the season against them. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The Auburn/Arkansas game is straight out of a video game. Or the Pac 10.

A terrible first quarter and a lack of quality receivers did the Huskers in today.
The punt return TD was a thing of beauty. I only wish a big play like that would have came a bit earlier in the game.
I wasn't very pleased with the refs today, but they didn't intentionally job us like some conspiracy theorist were worried about going into conference play. They were just down right terrible, especially the line judge, but nothing that could be considered a screw job call.
Huskers dropped three sure touchdowns today, and that is inexcusable when your star qb is being contained on every run play.

Yeah, I was flipping around and went to get a bite to eat but everytime I flipped over it seemed like Nebraska was dropping a big pass. Tough day.

Gonna be some property destroyed in Madison tonight.

Big winner today: Alabama

The next 7 weeks is now up for grabs. BCS proponents will rejoice.

The Iron Bowl is setting up to be epic.

Agreed on all counts, especially the part about the property damage.

Is Miss. St. pretty good or does Florida really suck? Discuss.

A middling Miss. St. team beat Florida in The Swamp. Gators are young and, thus far, inept, and the changes in coaching staff this year have resulted in unfocused, haphazard play on both sides of the ball. Pouncey apparently forgot how to play during the off-season and should have been benched after game 2. It appears Mullen was the driving force behind Meyer all these years.

Short answer- they suck.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

I really want Auburn to be undefeated and looking toward the Iron Bowl and for UGA to come over here and whip they punk asses. That said, Ole Cam Newtin is truly a BMF.

Get less than a mile outside of Madison and Wisconsin is essentially Alabama with a nine month winter. And uglier chicks.
