All of the Richard Hawley rec's are right on.

This one makes me think of nighttime listening:

It was game over for me with Dalen's first post. The Blue Nile are great. The first CD is also a stunner (A Walk Along the Rooftops). One of my all time best shows ever was seeing them play NYC's Bottom Line in 1990. True to form they didn't even go on until 1 in the morning. Could not have been better. Wanna hear it? I just came across a pretty good (now that I'm playing it a gain I must say) an excellent soundboard copy of the show...

No, it's the Nashville band now known as Silver Seas.

Uh-oh. I only had time to listen to 4-5 songs and haven't put it on since. Batting 1.000 then ?

Yeah, I'd say so. As an album it doesn't reach out and grab you like the others, but put it on late at night and it really works. The song "Sea of Stars", in particular, got me running to the system to see what it was.

Also, from the Twentyten thread, for late night awesomosity:

Reinforcing the notion that jazz really is the soundtrack for late night (Miles Davis, Jon Hassell ) I was listening to this (released this year) tonight and remembered it's perfect nightmusic, and one of the most beautiful jazz releases of the year.
