That's all three sets. Costume was second set, as per usual. I was skeptical about the selection. Didn't know the record at all, but gave a brush up listen before the show. Had to turn it off to tone down the reg rock before the show even started – Phish has been tending in that direction for a while now – so as to not wear it out. But, I think they did a great job with it. Easily the one choice since "Remain in Light" that allowed them enough room for their own interpretation. I'll have to relisten, but I was impressed and surprised. Funny that the only song I knew off this record was "Sailin' Shoes", which I thought was an original of Van Dyke Parks' off "Discover America", which I've listened to a ton of lately.
I'm stunned you've never heard "Dixie Chicken".
Aside from the mediocre singing (shocking!), I think this works really well; totally agree that the material really lends itself to being opened up though I would disagree that they haven't done it since RiL:
Loaded had some nice moments and I especially thought they did some nice jams on
Exile last year even if it wasn't your cup o' tea.
