Completely subjective and silly statement.

actually, not silly at all, and the dead truth.

there's a shitload of filler on this board.

Subjective because what you think is worthwhile is not what others will think so.

Silly because of above sentence.

doesn't that kind of prove his point, though? no matter who you are, you're going to think that the taste of the lot of us losers is crap, and there's only a few people who "get it". isn't snobbery what brought us all together in the first place?!

I think we should collect statistical data on the occurence of bitchfests. Is it a linear progression? I feel like the interval is decreasing.

speaking for the handful I am in touch with, there are just other boards that have a lot better regular music content, and many people have sought those boards out as a replacement for this one and CMJ

Really like which ones? I haven’t seen any, when the reply is: I like that, I like the old stuff more or I don’t like it. That to me is not musically discussion.

ILX is the only board that has better music talk than this one.

I'm researching Internet filtering in Bahrain. But I could examine whether the government filters bitchfests.

My empirical research indicates they occur most often Friday.

dude, that's obvious.

As for my "worthwhile" knowledge, I know more about music than just about any person in a town as small and remote as mine can know and have provided some of that knowledge when I felt like it or when I had any to provide. But it's certainly not my job or intent to be Mr. Educate.

And I don't rate my "worthwhileness" by how many advance leaks I can turn people on to. Or view my credibility in terms of being constantly in touch with unknown artists.

I like music and stuff. Could be from 1968. Could be an obscure British IDM outfit. Whatever.

But anyone saying music talk is not "worthwhile" because it doesn't fit their niche programming obsessions, is not seeing the bigger picture at work.

good lord, just come right out and say you don't like the Georgia Contingent and how they've "taken over" the board. they're pretty much the only new blood since switching over from CMJ.

For what its worth- I'm a post CMJer (lurked a bit there) and this is the first and only board I've ever been into. I checked out Hipinion and I do laugh outloud from time to time, but it would be exhausting to be in that community.

I think there is better music discussion here than anywhere else. I also get the idea that new people get a chacne to participate in the discussions and aren't ignored. I like the board as is, and unless people start posting porn like Hipinion, I don't see a need ot change.

Dalen- I hardly know you, but I hope I'm on the "good list" :)
