Once in a century event.

Some of my friends' entire houses underwater. Above the roof. Highset houses. It's stupid.

The force of the water is just unbelievable. It's being described as an inland tsunami coming down the mountains. Stuff is just getting swept away in seconds, sucked down river and out to sea.

Many dead, many more will die.

There are several ENTIRE towns that no longer exist. Entire towns, gone.

Those videos are out of date. It's already much worse. The prediction is that the high water mark is still two days away.

The footage from tonight's news is just unbelievable (hasn't hit the youtube yet).

Oh and last week there was a separate flood, in which an area of land in Queensland bigger than the state of Texas was entirely submerged. Now this.

Been sandbagging all day but truth be told it probably won't matter if the full brunt comes this way.

Maybe this is what happens when you live in an atheist country for so long...

I was listening to a report on this this am on NPR. It's fucking crazy. When was the last time something like this happened? Seems like one of those Nostradamus type of things.

scariest thing to me is not just the flood, but the fact that all that water is literally swimming with like 18 of the 20 most venomous snakes in the world - all of whom are likely to be agitated (as in extra bitey) by having spent the last several days/weeks in a perpetual spin cycle

Saw this on the news and at first thought "huh, another flood" then realized the extent of it. Apparently the land mass underwater right now is bigger than all of British Columbia, bigger than both France and Germany combined. That's almost impossible to comprehend.

Pretty much a terrible disaster. I imagine there will be many reports of heroism to come out at some point and the death toll to rise.
