I pre-ordered it based on the short samples I listened to. Definitely looking forward to it...

Didn't like it at all. So much so that I doubt I can muster a second listen.

love it to bits, and was not a fan of his previous material.

I really love NP, but most of the time I skip the songs with him singing.

whatever, I know a lot of people will find this record boring, and there is a massive amount of sounds that would normally be considered cheesy, but he makes them work.

I love the late night smacked out feel of this one.

I listened to one Destroyer album, don't remember which, and absolutely hated it. I've never given another one a chance. With saturation, it's going to be difficult for me to work this in.

I cannot even say it's boring, I just can't stand that voice.

That's the other thing, Each Destroyer album has very little in common with the one that came before it.

He's not for everyone, I get it, but once it sinks in its not going anywhere.

it's weird and anachronistic, but i still like it - for the most part (bay of pigs is unlistenable hot garbage)

it is ideal for late night listening

I was thinking it was a bit more Blue Nile than Roxy.

I, too, have never been much of a fan of the Dan Bejar oeuvre, but Chinatown (first track) sucked me right in. I have no idea how this will age, but I'm intrigued.

I've never heard any of the Blue Nile records from the 80's so I can't really compare, nor have I heard enough to compare to Roxy, but I can say it does makes for a good companion piece to that Twin Shadow record.

Listened to it, and I'm not sure what to think. The one thing that struck me is that this is such a situational record. Meaning, that I have to be in the right mood/situation to enjoy it. Like you, Mcaputo, I have no idea how this is going to age.
