Gonna be in Cincinnati over the weekend and wondering if anyone has suggestions of any places to check out. Food, music, art...whatever. I don't know a damn thing about the town.

Go and check out Mt. Adams. Area with lots of restaurants and bars. I'm always confused if they consider themselves northerners or southerners, and then you throw in its Germanic history and I'm lost....

I like that bullshit chili. 5 ways.
Just can't think of it as "chili", because it is not the same thing as what you get in Texas. Not at all. Totally different spice mixture and delicious in its own right.

OK, places to check out:

Record Stores:
Shake It Records. (Check out their exclusives before you go and make a list. They have a great used selection and cheap bin of good stuff.)
Everybody's Records (They have a great selection of vinyl. The used cd selection has become meh, but they have a lot of indie and local stuff new.)

Food:
LaRosa's Pizza
Graeter's Ice Cream
Skyline Chili (if you are feeling daring, but this is really an acquired taste. 1st time is gross, second time is meh, and then one day you wake up craving it. Then you eat it weekly.)

Places to see music:
South Gate House (across the river in Covington.) http://www.southgatehouse.com/ It looks like they have a Blues Fest going on Fri and Sat.
Bogarts (not a good part of town and the band selection has become heavier music and it doesn't look like they have anything scheduled.)

Touristy stuff:
Union Terminal - Awesome art deco train station with HUGE mosaic murals. Has the Children's and history museum in it now.
Carew Tower - Now officially the second tallest building in Cincy. Great views from the observation deck, I think it's $3 to get up.
The Cyclines are playing Friday night and Sunday afternoon if you want some good minor league hockey. http://www.cycloneshockey.com/schedule/home/

How long are you here? What part of town will you be staying? I can better recommend restaurants by location so you get the best grub for your travel.

Staying across the river actually. Leaving tomorrow and coming home Sunday. Plan on going to see Jesus ride a Dinosaur at the Creation Museum and then hoping to maybe find some art to look at during the day and someplace to go out at night.

I've heard the Creation Museum is worth it for the comedic value. A friend showed me pictures of some display they have that described how people rode the dinosaurs. If I had money to burn, I'd drop some there.

Well, if you are in KY, I'd make the venture up to Shake It Records. Southgate house should be pretty close if you want to go to the blues fest. Also on the KY side of the river is Hofbraushaus http://www.hofbrauhausnewport.com (next to South Gate House) which has some awesome beers made on site. (get some of their fresh pretzels sold by the girls in lederhosen if you go there) Awesome. Across the street is Newport on the Levee, which has a few bars and a Gameworks, and movie theater, Barnes and Noble, and the Aquarium (which is cool pretty awesome for being in Newport, KY.)

Are you coming with the wife/ family/ friends?

And if you need a 'dive' place to eat late at night or breakfast, try the Anchor Grill on Pike Street just East of 71/75. I think they are 24 hours..

If you start pointing at things in the Creation museum and laughing hystericaly, would they kick you out? Like, I can't imagine being there without looking at everyone else and saying "ARE YOU SEEING THIS SHIT?" I have to imagine they frown on that.

Yes, they will kick you out for mockery and photography is generally not accepted.

Hallmarks of a well-founded world view, for sure.

This thread isn't really selling Nati as a city.
